Don't eat them, far too fattening.

As a kid I used to LOVE Smith's Savory Vinegar flavour crisps. They were so vinegary, they often made the consumer pull a fishy-type face after munching the fourth crisp (sometimes even sooner). I think they got bought-out, somewhat inevitably, by the evil Walkers, & they were scrapped rather sharpish.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

ps Ready Salted (ie 'Plain') Crisps for me these days; or Hoola Hoops.

I like any salt and vinegar chip that gives me a popeye face - sadly there aren't very many out there anymore...

Leading local favorites, from New Brunswick-based, ex of Scarborough, Maine, Humpty Dumpty Co.: dilly chips (dill and vinegar, like a dill pickle), ketchup, and the recently phased-out sour cream and clam flavor.

The first two are quite nice. The last has a taste reminiscent of low tide in the days before stringent pollution controls.

Anyone else remember KP Rancheros from the 1970s ?

There were a bacon fries type affair but had flavour far superior to anything I tasted recently. I guess the nearest that comes to them is Wheat Crunchies.

They came in a brown packet with cowboys on the front.

So why did Cheese & Onion and Salt & Vinegar packets swap colours years ago

They didn't. It was just that Walkers suddenly became popular, but anyone alive in the 70s will remember Golden Wonder were THE CRISPS.

What ever happened to Ringos ? Can you still get them. There were up there with Scampi and Lemon Nik Naks on the smell factor scale.
