Probably working!
For me, and I just watched it again on TCM was Gremlins (1984).
Ghostbusters, The Karate Kid & Scarface get honourable mentions but it has to be Gremlins for me.

How about you?

The arse end of Hangleton
Bloody hell - just looked up my year 1970, and what a rubbish year it was for films. If I had to pick one then it would be The Railway Children.

One of my favourite films of any year actually: 'Night of the Demon'. (Based on the M R James story 'Casting the Runes'). British black and white horror film. I guess 'Bridge over the River Kwai' was the biggest film released that year though (1957), but it's not one of my favourites.

Le Coucher de la Mariée is my favourite, but to be honest there's not a great choice

A quick scan online revealed a pretty good year for me (1979)....

Alien
Apocalypse Now
The Warriors

Also a nod to Star Trek: A Motion Picture which would definitely get my Dad's vote!
