At rugby, I was prop when a scrum collapsed and there was this crack and a scream as the hookers shoulder blades both snapped

Last night was the only injury I've seen in "parks" football, but it was being played at Southwick's ground.

It was a Brighton Sunday league junior cup final. After a thrilling 3 - 3 draw, the game was into the second period of extra time and the lino was just getting an earful from me for a hopeless off side decision when one of the lads got a hefty kick to the lower leg and the entire ground heard the crack over my shouting. He still hadn't moved an inch when the game was abandoned 15 minutes later, and the ambulance picked him up from the centre circle. Haven't heard how bad it was yet.

His teammates seemed annoyed that they've got to replay the final when there were only 9 minutes left. I was more shocked that there appeared to be no medical assistance in the ground and nobody was even capable of stretchering him off the pitch!

You are missing something.

Hannover is indeed in Germany. Take out an N and you're back in sunny Bighton.

But you knew that really, didn't you! ???

A lad died in the 70's after playing for Steyning Grammar School. Apparently he sustained a cut on his knee during a game, carried on playing, but unfortunately the wound got muddy. He went home, complained of feeling unwell and went to bed early, during the night his parents called the doctor and had him admitted to hospital where he died a few hours later. It turned out that he had suffered an infection of his blood, caused by the mud on his cut knee.

The only reason I remembered this was that his parents donated a trophy to the school, in their sons' memory, to be awarded to the student who contributed most to football. The award was not necessarily to the best player, but was usually awarded to someone who played for the second eleven.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
Slightly different, but when I played Hockey a team mate slid in to the hockey goal and ripped his NADS on a small hook that was used to secure the net to the posts.

Now I didnt see it first hand, but the contents of his sacks had to be put back in on the spot by a paramedic.

He never played Hockey again funnily enough.
