As we all know there has never been a decent atmosphere at the withdean!

I put this down to not enough fans who sing, sitting together and the fact that the singing section is on the edge.

I sit in the North and I sing. And there are plenty of people who site near me who sing as well.

Ok i'll change the thread too.

Why cant any singing be heard!

At the end of the day we all know not enough people sing+it is a very small amount of people that do,yes not having a roof on the south is a massive thing but if everyone in the stand sang then it would be well loud.

its all too fragmented . . . people with central seats keep them whether thay sing or not, singing section should be in the middle not at the end, also the acoustics are terrible, trying to keeping close harmonies in conditions like that is impossible . . . .it ends up sounding more like pop idol :lolol:

There are fans who go solely to away games and find Withdean a bit of a drag. Supporters who do go to both home and away games and sing generally help to create a good atmosphere at away games, because those who do lend the side vocal support can stand in the same part of the away end.

At withdean those same supporters are split up throughout the South Stand, and whilst there are a fair number of them situated in the Singing Section, there are people in that block that like to be near the singing but choose not to join in with it.

The atmosphere at Withdean has always been almost non-existant and won't change.

Its a big shame aswell, because when we go away the players must be proud for such great support and 9/10 away games we outsing home fans and it does gain you respect that you have the best fans in the league.

But in the return fixture these clubs that we outsang come to withdean and it's like a cemetry.

I don't think we've ever outsung anyone at withdean. its either dead form all supporters or sometimes the away fans have a small sing song.

I don't think we are really any different to other clubs - a good away support usually wins any singing contest. Its just different when we are away, the singers all get together and have one chant at a time unlike at Withdean where there are fragmented charts coming from different areas of the South Stand and to some extent the North Stand. We always start up a Seagulls, seagulls chant when we get a corner in front of the north Stand but only about 20 people join in.

The singing section should be on the halfway line. I've said it before. That way those either side can join in.

Nobody remembers the big grey grandstand at the Goldstone then? f***ing enormous - and quiet as the grave. Could have been a mural for all the sound it made. Only went in there once, to impress some girl or other. It was horrible. Cost twice as much as the North Stand and with about a twentieth of the atmosphere. Still, takes all sorts I suppose and if you're being charitable or maybe just being realistic you'd put it down to Southern English anal-retentive diffidence. Which is a bit of a sweet quality in a way.

The only current day Withdean Albion fans beneath contempt in my view are the disgusting individuals who booed the lads who invaded the pitch (for about all of thirty seconds in a genuine show of exuberance) when we gained promotion to the First Division as Championes against Swindon. Unbelievable. Truly dreadful. Maybe we'll get it a bit better organised this promotion season and identify the creeps doing the booing and give them a smack

Always an odd atmosphere at Withdean. It can be very noisy at times, and quiet as the grave for long periods.

I think the weather plays a big part, as four thousand wet and cold people don't really feel like singing.
