How do people see the future with McLaren in charge. Will he change it?

Will he continue like Sven as obviously he had a certain amount of input to Sven.

Should we have waited till after the World Cup Big Phil?

If we can't beat Sri Lanka, how are we going to beat the Aussies?

The future is not good and we should definitely have bided our time going for Scholari. He was absolutley right in his reasons fro turning England down, given the way the WC panned out. The FA f*** up is the worst since Clough was rejected as being too outspoken. ****s

I think his first six months will be telling.

If he shows that he's willing to make the big decisions, and drop the big-reputation, little-performance players to accomodate people who actually deliver, then he could be okay.

If, on the other hand, we start the first game of his tenure with Beckham, Gerrard and Lampard all in the team ... we're f***ed.

The thing that worries me, is that the thing that supposdley turned it round for McLaren was the fact Boro managed to turn round a 0-3 deficit twice, my question is, if he's such a good coach/manager why were they 3-0 down twice in the first place. What has he actually acheived? A Carling Cup, whoopee do. If he is as good as the FA think then how come England have been so poor, and so often? Surely as an assistant manager you talk to the boss, help him to see if there are any weaknesses, how things can improve, otherwise he's just a waterboy. I really love to be proved wrong, but just think he is an FA yes man, a clone of Sven's regime with nothing to get excited about. Yes Portugal are cheating diving scummers, but Scholari is a winner, wouldn't be surprised to see Portugal win the thing. We should of pulled out all the stops for Big Phil, instead we get Sven mkII :nono:

I am sure that his knowledge of the English game will tell him that it is useless playing 4-1-4-1 or 4-5-1 or something called the Christmas tree when the vast majority of our players are from teams where 4-4-2 is their bread and butter. If he starts off with that knowledge then it will be an advance on the tactics used in the World Cup, then we will see if he is his own man or the spawn of Sven.

The problems are historical and cultural and are probably way beyond the power of one manager to solve. I don't think McClaren was a very good choice and he will be on a hiding to nothing now, but even a Hiddink or a Big Phil might have struggled with the weight of expectation there is in this country.

Re. Big Phil, I don't think yesterday was his finest day, Portugal looked pretty toothless whatever he did, although they can fall back on the excuse of missing their most creative playmaker.

Didn't Hiddink put the Aussies out in a 4-5-1?

Unless we change our style of football, we will never win anything in a major WC or Euro tournament.

Traditional English values of bottle, aggression and work rate dont count for much.

Even Paul Daniels cant make dog shit shine.
