After having to go to see Harry Potter, on opening weekend.
The place was packed out & showing 10+ times a day, it got me wondering:-

What's the smallest audience you've watched a film with, in the cinema?

For me it's The Doors, myself a mate & a snoring dosser, in the Odeon on the seafront.
With a special mention for 'I've brought a Vampire Motorcycle', 5-6 people, in the cinema behind the Thistle Hotel

I saw the David Hockney film, A Bigger Splash, in an audience of three, two of whom (old codgers) walked out when two blokes started having sex.

So I ended up in a cinema completely on my tod.

I went to Shoreham cinema years ago . . .it was totally empty all day, in fact it was gutted, just a few bits left before they started building the Civic centre

Bloody hell, I don't remember that and I lived in shoreham until I was 21 and I'm sure I'm a few years older than you.

Perhaps my mum should have let me out on my own more before I was 18

Went to see 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' in a cinema in Indianapolis. There were about 5 in there at the start and after 20 minutes I was the only one left.

A few years back, when they re-released the Exorcist, I waited until the last night of its run at the local cinema. I was the only one there. It was splendid.

Also, a few months ago I went to see an afternoon showing of It's All Gone Pete Tong at one of the big multi-screen cinemas in the city centre. It had been out for a few weeks, and myself and my companion were the only ones present.

I don't like cinemas precisely because I can't stand being surrounded by idiots when I'm trying to watch a film, so the above two experiences were superb as far as I'm concerned.

A few years ago I went to see Thunderpants with a friend. We were the only two in the cinema, and after sitting there for about twenty minutes with no film running, we had to go and ask the cinema people to start it. They didn't realise that they'd actually sold any tickets for it.
