heard about this, its a n interesting approach. its always stuck me as odd seeing pictures of refugees with charged, high spec mobile phones, clearly many have more assets than they like to portray.

If you had to flee your home, One of the first things you'd take is your mobile.

Most, if not all of them, can even afford clothes, gotta wonder why they are bothering to leave home in the first place.

how is it still charged after weeks of travel? most smart phones barely make it through a day if used.

But surely any professional refugee would swap their mobile for a cheaper tatty model - maybe an old Nokia that we in the west decide is only newly released in the "third world" - when escaping their wartorn surroundings to avoid the suspicions of certain onlookers.

What's the difference between an economic migrant and a refugee?
Economic migrants won't go to Switzerland or Denmark.

Surely an economic migrant is someone who leaves where they live to move somewhere else to earn more money. A refugee is someone who has been displaced by circumstances, whether that be war or famine etc. You could be very rich but if you home is in the middle of a war zone, you are going to leave.

Well quite.

Much as it might not fit the distinct pigeon-holes, some would prefer to use.

Refugee status is defined by the UN -- someone who "owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality, and is unable to, or owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself, of the protection of that country."

What does it say about permitted brands of mobile phone?
