brighton, actually
for romantics / to impress a foodie - latin in the lanes, kimgs road (behind Wueens hotel). make sure you can claim expenses, as it is!

for good basic nosh, and an easy going time- blind lemon alley. middle street. be prepared to wait a while when its busy (all freshly cooked? more beer time!)

for an 'event' - chinaagarden, preston street (havent been in a whie, though).

Are there actually ANY restaurants in Brighton that...

a) gives good value
b) a full plate
c) free refills of booze
d) a starter that would be enough for a main course

e) ...and when i ask for no veg gives extra chips/steaks?

No.. didn't think so.

Can't beat a Texas steak-house!

Terre à Terre is the best restaurant in Brighton.

Although an honourable mention must go to Cafe Belge on the corner of Kings Road and West Street who do mussels in more sauces than you can shake a stick at. They also have a SUPERB selection of Belgian beers, over 100 I believe.

Any idea of a decent eatery for maximum 20 people. Organising for the Chairman of my company.

Looking for warm, friendly atmosphere to entertain 12-15 or so people (Directors/Managers/Chairmen). I was thinking the Hotel Du Vin, but it is fully booked.

Preferably nearish the Brighton Centre as it is an after dinner do.....

Any ideas would be great!

Cafe Belge. Decent enough food, and 100 different Belgian Beers.

Seriously, it's worth a look.

It's not brighton - its in george street, hove, but this was my nosh at the slug and lettuce the other night.

For those of you waiting for your dinner..... slobber.....

a medium rare rib eye steak under the spray of grilled cherry tomatoes on the vine, seasoned chips - juicy not overcooked and hard, a side dish of mustard mayonaise, spicy rough chopped salsa under the rocket and mixed leaves salad, grilled flat field mushrooms and caramelised fried onions.

Hungry now? :lolol:

why did I take a photo of my dinner? well, I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you after.....
???
