Remember building my pen for the dogs, was bloody hard work, but touch wood they haven't escaped yet. They don't live out there, just when they are in the garden I don't want them digging holes in the lawn

We fenced off our lawn in our old house to stop our dogs from digging it up and pooing on it, but if our neighbours dont sort their rickety old fences out soon then my big dog will in their garden like a shot planting freshly laid cables all over theirs!

We have a pen for our dogs as well, the wife insisted we needed one so my brother and I built a wonderful contraption and now I think the dogs have been in there once or twice.

This fence I am doing today is for a pony. She is getting out at least once a week - I'm not convinced it's a fence problem though, I think she is jumping the fence so no matter what I do she'll get out if she decides she wants to. I am going to build another fence along this strip one metre infront of the one already there and hope that will deter her. She's a pest. Our neighbour keeps complaining about her - which I could understand if she was going through their garden/land causing damage but everytime she gets out she walks along in front of theirs round to our house where the stable is and churns up my bloody lawn!

I'd hate if she got out and something bad happen to her though so I'm going to do my finest DIY this afternoon!

I read that you have huskies, my wife is desperate to have huskies. We actually looked into getting two last summer and went to a breeder and everything and saw the most beautiful dogs, but we ended up getting a chocolate labrador because our son fell in love with him.

I had a thought yesterday, my next door neighbours who I am more than eager to get away from (part of the reason why I am moving home soon) have two dogs, one a black labrador and the other a little smaller. These two dogs bark a lot and used to wake me up when I first moved in to my house, not any more fortunately. What struck me is that in the two and a half years I have lived here I have never seen their owners take them out for a walk, is that cruel or am I just over-sensitive?

Good luck with the fence, would recomend Huskies to almost anyone, but the most important thing is that they can't be let off their leads unfortunately. Well not unless you are in a fenced area as they are masters at escaping. Couple that with the fact they can run upto 20-25 miles without any training and you might have to spend a long time looking for them lol. My record is 3 hours after a 2 hour run round the breeders field (15 acres) But as I said to Yorkie have loads of books and if you are in Brighton feel free to pop round and meet them. As a matter of interest, where was the breeder you went to?

It depends, if they really charge round and play with each other in the house and have a decent size garden to run in is not to bad. With mine they have a walk early morning, about 5ish, then again in the evening. At the weekends they only have one a day as they can spend a lot of time in their pen. Also as I say you can't let huskies off their leads, so they get more excercise running about in the house and garden rather then the walks. The walks are more to socialise and mental excercise, by sniffing scents etc.
