The problem is England just isn't England anymore. I don't want us to rule the Empire again and f*** with other countries, just want us to keep what we do have intact. The good side of England is magnificent and our values and morals are second to none.

I understand that we have to be tolerant of immigrants and they need our help but not at the expense of our values and traditions. England can hold itself with dignity and respect without being bigoted or racist we just need to keep our cultural identity. England can be great.

What 'downfall'? This is the fourth or fifth richest country in the world (depending how it's measured), anyone would think we were in some post-apocalyptic hell the way that some of you talk.

As for the usual nutters who talk the usual nonsense about immigrants: if this country is in such a sorry state, why would anyone want to come here? We all know that the answer is that this is a thriving economy and that we need them more than they need us.

Immigrants come here because there is money to be made if you work hard, they dont come for any other reasons, they send most of the money home. Hungarian guy I work with occasionally cant wait to get back on his days off etc, he actually thinks that England is a shit hole, and I cant honestly argue.

Its certainly not the fault of immigrants, its the Government, normal everyday folk are getting more and more pissed off when they have paid National Ins/Tax for years and years but find it harder and harder to get simple things like a Doctors appointment, buses and trains get more and more crowded, but the Government do NOTHING to elieviate the problem.

Immigrants take the brunt of the bad feeling, but its understandable its there, when the country feels like its getting harder and harder to get basic services that you pay for out of your wages, sensible people know it has little to do with the influx, but the Goverment have to realise that if you take say an influx of 10,000 eastern europeans (conservitave estimate) into somewhere like Portsmouth, then you have to create the equivelent school, health and transport provisions, so are they ? No they are NOT, am I racist for thinking that the Government should think carefully before taking any more immigrants until they create the infrastructure ? I hope not, its just plain common sense.

Its typical Blair, if he REALLY wanted to do something about it he would scrap a Nuclear weopon we dont need and spend the 20 Billion over 20 years creating an infrastructure for immigration, I certainly would have NO problem with that. No Blair just wants Bums on seats so that the economy is not damaged by a lack of workforce, f*** all the other social consequesncies.

I love Brittany. la Rochelle area has very nice seafood restaurants as does St Gilles. Brittany North coast , St cast is lovelly.

Any chance on an invite over when you move in...I am very good with a shovel....even better lounging around the pool with a bottle of beer and a Brie on toast

The very same, couldn't afford St Briac town, we are just outside , nice views of the coast etc.

It gets busy in the summer, but mostly with French tourists who spend most of their time on the bikes !

Downfall? I don't see the country as suffering a downfall at all. I see a country struggling to cope with an ever changing world, but that is affecting every country.

What saddens me most about most countries (developed) is the increase in human beings who are only in life for themselves. Society is battling the me first life and the world owes me something selfish syndrome

If more people thought about their families, their kids, their immediate suburb, before themselves, then our kids would have more respect, our neighbourhoods would be safer and life would be rosier. But we're out their making money, to feed our own wants (not needs) at the expense of respect and morals.

I wasn't critizising immigrants, just the opposite in fact. What I meant was that England is struggling to deal with the influx and needs to devise a better system which works in everybodies favour, including refugees and immigrants. I am glad England accepts immigrants and tries to help them, one of the reasons England is great but we have forgotten our place in the World and have become Subjects rather than citizens.

I don't know when it started, but I suspect is has to do with the rise of socialism in this country, along with the idea of free handouts. After all, if someone is going to give you something you haven't got, just because you haven't got it, eventually you will come to feel that you deserve that handout.

This is a message board used and originated in England and I have been a publican for over 35 years and a Black & Tan is Guinness and Bitter long before Harp Lager was ever invented. In fact I had my first pub before there was any draught lager available in Britain.

Harp came into being approx 1968/69. The first draught lager was Tuborg although Carlsberg was sold in bottles. Draught Guinness came into being in Britain in about 1963 but before that peo[ple drunk Black & Tan being bottled guinness with bitter.

Obviously Irish History differs from English because your views of The Black & Tans which were so called by the colour of their uniforms, in that there was no law and order in Ireland and these people were sent to try to bring about Law & Order that is what I was brought up to believe.
