It looks like it'll either be 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 this season.

Code:
                           Roberts

         Watson Cullip Hinshelwood Mayo

          Hart Carpenter Rodger Jones

                      McPhee Knight

Code:
                             Roberts

                               Cullip
                        Pethick Mayo
           Watson Jones

                       Carpenter Rodger
             Hart
                        McPhee Knight

I think Hinshelwood played himself into the 4-4-2 tonight.

Coppell prefers 4-4-2 and Hinsh was outstanding tonight.

From what I saw tonight when Cullip went off (I think it was him) you looked really shaky at the back, and when Leon Knight cme off you missed that something up front :)

3-5-2 at Yeovil, 4-4-2 tonight says it all.

But play Kuipers. He played a blinder at Yeovil, pulled off a string of great saves. Top bloke too, had a (quick) chat with him while they were warming up and the ball came my way. Spoke about him being back to fitness, looking forward to the new season, and he signed my shirt.

4-4-2 although it still doesn't look right without a big lump of a striker to partner young Knight!

Before the Leicester game I would say Mayo was a cert, but from all accounts it seems Harding had a great game & I think it would be unfair of Coppell to leave him out - he did ask for players to stand out, and that's what Harding did

mayo might be played in defence in place of jones.

tim, coppell has never dropped mayo since he took over, he's the only ever present since coppell took over, so i reckon he'll still make it

poor ol' pethick, I thought he was good last season as a cb but it seems young hinsh has stolen it under his nose

Harding is allright in the reserves but if he is going to play first team he has a long way to go. He's got to get in front of Mayo and jones for a defensive position or in front of Jones, Piercy, Dan Beck and possibly Kanchelskis for a left wing position.

In other words it aint gonna happen unless a lot of injuries!

If the Argus is to be believed:

Coppell is keen to play with a back four in the Second Division after operating for much of last season with three centre-halves.

Coppell revealed: "I, like most other people in football, am always looking at the spine of the team.

"I want to try and force a back four this season, because I think it just suits more of our players.

"The ideal situation is that we can change at a moment's notice to three centre-halves, but if we are going to be a real force in this division a back four is the best way forward.

I think youve got it spot on Turkey with your 4-4-2!

Although Id like to see Piercy replace Jones when fit and have a back up decent striker for Mcphee if he doesnt cut it. If Kanchelskis does come in obviously hed move out wide with possibly Hart moving up front.

Id still like to see some competition for Watson because if he doesnt rediscover his form we got probs.

WATFORD O said:
....and more to the point does it matter as youre doomed?

1) we lost one game all pre-season and that was in the last minute (not that it really matters that much supposedly)
2) our last serious game before the big KO finished in a 3-2 win, against a top flight club.
3) you could only dream of signing a forward of Leon Knight's quality, never mind Bobby Zamora.
4) the nucleus of our squad walked off with the 2nd division championship last time we played in it.

Yep, you've convinced me. We're down.

It must be hard for you Watford, you so desperately want us to fail yet know deep down we are a safe mid table bet at worst.

The hardest thing is getting out of the basement division and installing an atmosphere around the club of success not perpetual failure, something Micky Adams managed superbly but for some reason Orient just cant seem to get. I personally want Orient to come up sooner rather than later because I always enjoyed going to Orient, even when we were poor and you used to beat us. We are so far apart in terms of class right now that its a shame and unlikely to happen.

Do you honestly think you have a chance this season?

This is a sensible thread which Watty has hijacked. yet again.

Just like Dwayne was doing last week.

Watty by all means post on your "I own you thread". Those of us that want to, will reply on it.

For what it's worth I prefer 4 4 2. It's a same Blackwell isn't fit but Pethick will either start or be on the bench. He can be used in more than one position. I think Mayo, Cullip and Watson will start in the back 4.

I can't talk about Harding as I don't know much about him.

For me, Leyton Orient represent everything about our past. First went to their little hole in that dumpy part of East London during protest years. Leyton Orient filled a gap for us when we were in the dumps and needed something to replace a Palace or Pompey game.

Whilst going to Brisbane Rd in the Cup would be fun (just to teach idiots like Watford O a lesson) I have no interest in ever being back into the same division as London's forgotton club.
