I have to agree El abd out of everyone would of known what it meant and would of put 100% into it and agree Barnes should of started.

As much as I love El Abd, I think you'd struggle to find many Albion fans who would have wanted to disrupt the Greer/Upson partnership in defence.
I don't think this was the issue anyway. We lost to a combination of players too tired/nervous to perform and Gus perhaps being too defensive in his tactics. Lua Lua and Buckley on the wings from the start may have made all the difference and brought Ulloa into the game more.

Ashley Barnes came pretty damn close after he'd only been on the pitch for about thirty seconds. That would have rewritten what is now history.

Opinion.
Barnes came on and failed to beat Speroni with our best chance of the match. Within 5 minutes of him coming on the game was lost.
Fact.
LuaLua should have been on before Barnes.

Ulloa was totally isolated up front, he had no support when we attempted to go forward. They nullified Bridcutt, and that was our undoing along with Orlandi and Lopez looking ineffective. As soon as Lua Lua came on he was marked by 2, and looking back they did this all night every time we went forward. Holloway got his tactics right, and tonight Gus didn't..

Calderon. We would have been harder to beat. We should have also started with 2 wingers (Buckley and Lua Lua) so we could have given them more to worry about. We were worried about them more than they were of us.
Yeah very true, but that was his only 2 touches of his entire game

Barnes had the best chance of the game moments after coming on. How many more would we have had from the start?

We tried to outplay them and we did'nt, they won the battle and were physically stronger than us.
Agree, they were anonymous and no match for opposition who were fighting for everything. Hammond was pretty useless too but at least put in a shift. Shows that there's still a lot about the Championship being about strength, passion and pace. We had little if any of that tonight.

We really didn't do too much wrong it's just they stopped us from playing our game their defence was spot on
