What Was Up With The Heavy Stewarding In The Barnet End?

With very few Barnet fans coming to the game, I thought they were magnificent in getting behind their team, and singing their hearts out even though they were 2-0 down very quickly.

But next thing you know, there were about 20 stewards bundling in there, and the noise stopped. There werent that many Barnet fans, was there a need for that many stewards.

I think there were more stewards there, than in the South Stand

The noise was coming from the back of their stand so there were plenty of people sat infront of them watching the game unobstructed.

Why not just let them enjoy themselves? It seems last night we got a situation despite us THRASHING a team at home for the first time in ages, both sets of fans went home slightly aggrieved by the Withdean experience last night.

You really went home slightly aggrieved? Sort yourself out mate. We won 4-0, you dont have to worry about every fan you know.

probably due to the fact that modern football is shit and we all have to be told what to do by a bunch of oafs in a yellow jackets because they are 'just doing their job'.

No doubt the ring leader was Rambo who assaulted that lad at the last home game last season. Probably been watching Rambo 4 before the game.

Might have been connected to the GOBBING by some Barnet fans from their stand onto some of our kids queueing up for burgers. It then started to get a bit silly, but the chief GOBBER was one of the Barnet fans ejected.

What a word. I have not heard that for yonks. When did gobbing take over ?
I think that particular switch took place around the same time as Dunn and Co sadly ceased trading.

Other than the spitting incident I was really impressed with the Barnet fans. There weren't many of them but they got behind their side evern when they were 4-0 down and made a decent amount of noise. They were pretty funny as well, I swear they were singing "Minnie the Moocher" for a while in the second half. Also, I actually think they had a very respectable turnout for a League 2 side midweek away in the cup. I know Barnet isn't miles away but I was still impressed.

It was bizarre. I don't ever remember them ever having been that noisy at the "half time horror toilet"-featuring Underhill.

That's really disgusting. I would have gone mental if someone spat on my kids.

The flags seemed to implie some connection to Glasgow Rangers, union jacks, barnet loyals and what appered to be the Rangers crest on the flags.

Barnet have never caused this sort of trouble before so perhaps seemed sensible to put them in the end stand. However was very close to the family stand what an outrage if this happend.

I believe it was linked to homophobic chanting originally...

Where's steward433 when you want him? He usually pontificates on every thread but he's been strangely silent this morning.

First of all - when we played Barnet last season, they had several repugnant fans, and if it were up to me they didn't deserve the East Stand courtesy. (it's a home stand with a better view that we don't have to release to away fans at all).
There were idiots that were trying to break seats, baiting and insulting stewards and kids in the family stand, and lighting cigarettes to get attention (and get ejected before the end of their losing match)
Once again, they abused the courtesy. Nice. :nono:

Second - the ruck that the Stewards were called to duty for, was in-fighting between faction of Barnet fans - they were fighting amongst themselves!
I hope that the most-clobbered was a spitter, but that would be justice that's not usually the karma come-uppance that's meted out.

The paramedics were called in, I understand, because someone in that 'ruck' got hurt enough to need professional attention.
