There was also the Porro high tackle on Mitoma that was a pretty contentious decision and could have been a red. Mitoma didn't make a meal of it though.

Mitoma penalty.

Every pundit and commentator called it live with the same access to replays that VAR had.

Even they knew it was a penalty, but with the ridiculous politicisation (clear and obvious) of defending their own it exposes VAR to be the sham that it is.

How on earth the technology is being used (even in part) to defend the reputation of referees rather than simply being an extension of the referee is beyond comprehension.

This is exactly right. By introducing this narrative that VAR won’t intervene unless it’s an absolute howler refs are getting away with absolutely terrible decisions. The foul on Welbeck v Leicester and todays Mitoma foul are because Howard Webb has ‘raised the bar’ on when VAR should intervene. Ironically by doing so he has made the situation worse.

Pushing or pulling by use of hands, they are basically very intentional. I hate those hand used fouls. Pulling Dunk's shirt. Pushing Mitoma's back (the handball one).

Intentional or not, it's a big matter.

Institutionalised out of date self protecting regime.

That's the true story of today.

Too much made of offside not being offside by a millimetre and "taking the fun out of the game" by supporters and pundits.

You either accept the technology or not. Not the nuanced current delivery by the closed shop referees union.

Either get rid of completely, or accept the reality of it.

Paradoxically, it appears currently setup to give referees an excuse for making a mistake.

The worst was Mitoma's goal not being given. Contact with the ball is clearly on the chest/upper arm - the 't-shirt sleeve' rule. To rule out that goal was disgraceful.

Can't see any evidence either that the other one hit Ali Mac's hand- there might be another angle that proves it, but if so why haven't we seen it??? On MOTD looks like it came off his hip (but yeah. a 'clear and obvious' error).

The Mitoma pen is obviously a penalty. Can understand it might be deemed a bit harsh but it's a foul.

The Dunk penalty is a clear penalty - obvious shirt pull.

Looked like there was a good shout for handball in the first half, but haven't seen the replays. Also thought there was a clear foul on March at the end when he was taken out when trying to cross the ball.

Another terrible decision - (can't remember which player), running towards goal, would have been one on one, clearly shoved in the back - not given. I think that was actually the most blatant of the lot.

Their worst decision was one they took before the game started when they decided we were gonna lose the match come what may

I think the Mitoma non penalty was the main one. Clear foul. I don’t think the Alexis/Welbeck handball was given wrongly as it deflects into the net off his arm. I have looked at the Mitoma handball goal a few times and can’t make up my mind about it.

Mitoma penalty, no excuse for not giving that from VAR.

Dunk non penalty a close second.

Given just how many decisions went against us I am utterly convinced the officials were ensuring that we could not win that game. MOTD highlights hardly scratch the surface of the number of dodgy calls made by Attwell.
