We have all our gadgets but are we happy ?. People have things that 30 years ago would have been a luxury and take them for granted. Plasma TV's/DVD's/Mobile Phones,Internet,Blackberrys etc etc.

In the 70's kids aspiration was to have a Space Hopper or for the very lucky a Chopper bike now they have a computer warehouse in their rooms and expect it.

Britain is 21st in the league table for satisfaction in Europe.

What was your happiest decade and would gizmo's and gadgets were the order of the day ?.

I have gone for the 80's purely for quantity and variety of shagging closely followed by the 90's

The one you are living in now. Obviously. Otherwise you would be dead, or not born. But I have always had a hankering after living in the 1390s, personally.

Where you a shepherd in the 80's then? :jester:

70's for me, Colour telly with the 6 million dollar man on. I think by the late 70's we had a remote control (with a bloody great wire going across the lounge). and recording off the radio onto a portable tape recorder, none of that reel to reel lark for us.

Also, The albion were brilliant then.

70's were pretty good with the Ballroom Blitz and Teenage Rampage by the Sweet and Cum on feel the noize from Slade as a 11 year old but the 80's were the one for me. The trouble is I only realise now how good those times were and did not make the best of them.

I honestly thinkthe naughties has been an utter TURD of a decade. 9/11, Stock Market and Markets being SHITE for the whole decade, Credit Crunch, Worst recession since 1945, Albion being football spectators for most of the decade, divorce, shite summers, wars, ongoing terrorism, Labour in charge the whole time. Yes complete SHIT HOUSE.i

I don't think you can call the Albion 'complete shithouse' with 2 championship wins and a promotion in front of 65000 at Cardiff, as well as a new stadium being built!

See where you're coming from though - I can't really vote as I only remember small bits of the 80's

Funnily enough we are moving offices shortly so are starting to tidy up and I found an 80s style "brick" phone - marvellous scenes

In the shadow of Seaford Head
'60s for me. The world seemed to lighten up after post war 50s . Suddenly we did not have to act or dress like our parents. Pop music changed for ever; overseas travel became affordable; food and drink improved and the Goldstone was nowhere near the squalid place it became towards the end of its life. Plus I had all the optimism of a young man. Good days.

How can you mention the 70's without stating that it was the decade that gave the world punk :tantrum:

Glam was good, in fact very good but can't compare its impact with what came later.

In 1977 I found the greatest band that ever walked the Earth and became a devoted Man in Black.

What the f*** are you on about?

We've always had terrorism, wars, shite summers, Albion being football spectators - so what's new about this decade?

As for Labour being in charge, were the mid-late 1960s shite as well?

I think 9/11 took things to a different level Alan and the World has been f***ed ever since. The recession we are going through makes the others look like a Sunday out at the Seaside. The stock market has been a turd for 10 years. The FTSE was nearly 7000 in 1999 now it has limped to just over 5000. Summers have been hit and miss but we have had 3 duds in a row. Albion were on a roll in the 70's and played 4 seasons and had an fa cup final in the 70's/80's apart from that I agree with everything you say.

Yep, cos all of this stuff is a new phenomenon, isn't it?

Still, at least we know which part of the cycle you're on a present.

The 60's because there has not been a decade that had such a massive amount of progress and variety in rock/pop music and let's not forget the euphoria of winning the World Cup as well.

I doubt that there is a single person who grew up in the 60's who would nominate another decade
