Ok the new Manager is in place but we have conceded 7 goals in the last two games so what options does McGhee have ???

1) Play the youngsters ?

I think it will be unfair to play 3 or 4 of them and expect them to turn it around, Hinshlewood tried that last season and it did not work.

2) Have a mass clearout ?

We can only do that in the close season, I think he will slowly bring players in but we can only have two loan signings and most current players are under contract until the end of season, so not really an option.

3) Change the tactics ?

If I was him I would switch to 5 at the back ! just to stop the goals going in, it worked last season when Coppell did it.
My team for Notts County would be :

Roberts/Kuipers

Watson Hinshlewood Cullip Butters Jones

Carpenter Piercy
Yates

Knight McPhee

Would play Yates just behind the front two (like Brooker last season) and tell Jones & Watson whenever they get the ball get forward and get some decent crosses in. The srosses from Hart were awful on saturday, ok so we lose one in midfield but that is our main weak spot.

Oh and a bit of passion please.

Any thoughts ???

I would be ecstatic with a 0-0 draw after the last few results. How sad is that:(

Worth a go, Hadlee (although I do shudder at Jones OR Mayo at LB right now, they are both as bad as each other). Good to se someone offering some opinions on solutions, rather than just moaning about it.

"Playing 2 keepers would certainly help! "

Then they would make one mistake each !!!

i would play yeates behind the front to, as he showed more promise in the 2nd half, mayo, cullip, butters and hinch in defence with roberts in goal, hart is suspended so carpenter, peircy and rehman in midfield along with yeates, knight and mcphee up front!

Not bad but after seeing Harding at Colchester I'm not sure he can defend. He has been woefully under used as he looks like a good attacking option but it must be a worry with Mayo playing as bad as he his.

I saw an advert for extra staff at the burger bar at Withdean, maybe Yeates could make an application.

Have you lot ever thought Roberts could be the problem?????

Trouble is Matt - our other normally reliable Keeper is having a bit of a mare at the mo as well!! I think both are trying too hard to impress the new gaffer.

I don't think McGhee will play 4-5-1 - he always favours 4-4-2 However I do think that the back 4 needs a bit more protection. I would do what the Scots did against Holland and have a deep-lying midfielder (or defender - DC Maybe?) to protect the back four and give them an option to pass to. Also Im starting to think Hinsh is better in the centre and Pethick would be better at full back. As for Kerry I think he should be rested and Harding should be given a go.

Therefore my team would be:-

Roberts (or Kuipers)

Pethick Hinshelwood Cullip (or Butters) Harding

Carpenter (or Cullip??)

Yeates Rehman Piercy

McPhee Knight

He passed a few 10 yard balls to some of our players. I am 41 fat and very unfit and I could have done that !.
