Mainly because it was what we used when on the Internet at school (the school browsers were all set to open up straight to Yahoo), so I automatically used it at home as well.

AltaVista, It was VERY good back in the day but I tried it recently and it wasn't all that.

I had a spell using all the web in 2001, which I only remember due the fact when I did a typo of the URL and went to altheweb.com, I found a very early campaign to get Al Gore as President in 2004.

I think it was tongue in cheek because it had some very cheesy photos of him and the imfamous quote/misquote about him inventing the internet.
