I don’t know and my point was that nsc appears to have a section of posters who throw out figures that are at best valueless.

Due to a huge new team of DWP staff working long hours to deal with the influx of claims. Things that work well, just don’t hit the headlines.

10,000 DWP staff I read were switched roles to process claims. You no longer have to phone in either, as the amount of calls was impacting on the national telephony system apparently. The website is holding up better now than it was too, but not everybody is online or internet savvy though. Turn2us think 3.5m extra will be on it as a result of this. Massive societal cost and cost to the state all of this. Grim times ahead.

By comparisons I guess... 12 weeks in solitary confinement against being able to go out to work, for shopping and exercise. No the second option isn’t easy, but it’s certainly soft compared to the first...

Epidemiologists as with most experts in most situations historically have followed the usual pattern.Sadly you can find an expert to back up almost any scenario and that is why you tube is full of comedians building routines around experts conflicting opinions.
I’m not one of the nsc know all’s but my totally uneducated guess is that by the time a vaccine is found,tested and available the virus may well have passed through.

It will ease when the rush for beds is managed and the new infections is sustainable. There will be an unwritten acceptable toll a week to allow some freedoms to come back but I cannot see jollies in the pubs or any other gatherings until you have been tested and proved had it and got over it and they can meet up, not with untested and relax more on age and geography but other than that for as along as it takes to find a vaccine

I especially think this is a risk for young people and young families who might not be prepared to stay inside for a year to protect an older generation who might not be around for long anyway in a lot of cases. If we're still in lockdown unbroken at Christmas then I think people will just start ignoring it quite quickly.

I’m not so sure. 18 months of lock down? Can’t see it happening. I wouldn’t rule anything out at this stage but I find that unlikely. The lock down is to slow the spread to ease the burden on the NHS so it stands to reason a lockdown will he lifted before a vaccine. I would imagine we shall see restrictions loosened for the under 55 age group by end of May, with the rest following gradually over summer. London may be longer.

A rule of only socialising if you can prove you’ve had the virus and are now clear throws up one very big problem. People deliberately trying to contract the virus and another tsunami for the NHS and people ignoring the lock down to mingle and catch it.

Government can’t afford us to be locked up for much longer than that either.......the country will be f*cked, I’m confident restrictions will start being lifted in May, slowly but they will get lifted !
