We were fortunate in the Swindon games but we deserve the win against City. The defence was superb with Captain Cullip proving again that he has lowered himself to play in div 2 this season as he is a good div 1 player if not higher.

If we were in Italy all the papers and pundits would be marvelling at our defensive organisation.

Anyone who saw the Ali v Foreman fight in Zaire (1980?) would remember Ali's word to describe how he fought: 'Rope-a-dope'.

But he took all Foreman, the overwhelming favourite, had to offer and just wore him out by covering up for the first 10 or so rounds. After that he came out fighting himself and knocked Foreman out.

There was a lot of that approach on Sunday as we let City come at us but never let them through. Then, in the last 10 minutes we mounted a series of attacks (helped by the crowd getting behind them - stirred-up by Kuipers, Mayo & Hinshelwood) and caught them when they tired.

So I think we (the team and the fans) Rope-a-doped City.
