Assume he was dropped rather than injured. Will in my opinion have to work his socks off to get back in the team under the new regime.

Certainly glad to see the captains armband handed to Crofts. Personally think he would be an excellent choice as captain and think he has been an inspirational signing. His goal today was top notch and loved his celebration. I'm liking this lad the more I see him play.

Crofts goal right in front of us was the icing on the cake. It'd be interesting to hear how he captians on saturday (One of the advantages of withdean, you hear what the players are saying. Which is also a disadvantage) because Virgo was a bit quiet for me. Great to see him score though. Well deserved goal.

The issue I have is not Virgo but just why was Tunnicliffe dropped bearing in mind he has made no errors at all where as other central defenders have been poor.

Virgo, to me, just doesn't look fit. He looks like he's carrying a bit of upper body weight, which is clearly not acceptable for a pro footballer. He seems to be slow and lumbering this season. I don't doubt he's a great defender at his best - he's PROVED that for us at a higher level than we're at now. But a kick up the arse is what he needs right now I think, so I was quite pleased to see him dropped.

It's also a real statement of intent by Gus, to drop the captain for his first game. Just shows that some of our players who have egos mean NOTHING to a guy of his calibre.

As for Crofts, well I think he's been shit most of the season, totally anonymous and nothing more than a runner. Today was the first time where I can, hand on heart, say I thought he was excellent.

You're having a giraffe!

Thought Poyet got it wrong by dropping Virgo instead of Elphick, but I got it wrong - he was spot on.

Crofts is still a bit too quiet to be a leader for me, but no doubting he is a solid midfielder

The fitness comment (as well as being slow) is one I've heard from two independent Celtic supporters and a Colchester fan. I tend to agree.

Personally I've never been convinced by him, save for a few heroics as a striker about 5 years ago.

Not fussed about Virgo he has not put in the performances since him came back. Deserved to be dropped ages ago. Wrong choice as captain at the beginning of the season in my view

Didnt Hinshelwood have the major say in picking the team for today. I would suggest that Poyet will pick the team for Wednesday.

Poyet said he was going to pick the team with input from the coaches. Think it was his team. Didn't see Thornhill or Davies on the bench which I thought was a bit of a shock

Why?
They've done f*** all.

Yeah I agree but thought they might have turned it on in training to get themselves on the bench. Guess not!

Virgo is a good defender but is just lacking form, Central defence is one of the few positions where you can carry a bit extra (not that i think he does) i do expect Virgo to get back in to the side but you only do that through hard work and i think since he joined he has taken his starting role for granted.

Crofts, works hard tackles hard gets forward and back, leaders need to set these examples, great choice for captain.

I was a bit surprised to hear Crofts announced as captain today. I suppose in the absence of a stand out candidate I can see why Poyet went with him though.

Still buzzing from today's performance and don't want to take anything away from it. Crofts took his goal well and it was great to have it come when it did, and right in front of our end too. I really don't want to sound negative but I think it's worth mentioning that when Crofts got the captains armband at Gillingham it apparently burdened him and signalled the beginning of the end for him there. Really hope if he gets to keep it with us that it won't affect his performances.

Not in the least bit shocking to me. Slade didn't rate Davies and I'd be very surprised if Poyet starts picking him too to be honest.

High up on the South Downs.
Sr. Poyet picks the team. As long as we do well who cares what NSC posters think? We might as well have a campaign to bring back Fred Binney! Lets hope we can start to enjoy the football and stop worrying about strange tactics.
