Why is there talk of him going to Celtic? I don't see that at all. If I were Chairman of a Championship club, I would do anything to get him in.

Perfect move for him if available.
Other wise he’s simply type cast as man who gets teams promoted then gets moved on after a year or two.

Do you seriously believe that his Norwich team would have stayed up if they hadn't pulled the trigger?

Yep - they were five points above the relegation zone with 5 games to go - Norwich got one point after sacking Hughton - Sunderland went on a 4 game win streak after Norwich sacked Hughton (including beating Chelsea and Man Utd) - they had lost 7 of the previous 8 before he was sacked. Houghton would have ground out the results needed to keep them up - just like he did with Brighton this season - and Sunderland would have folded in the process (like Cardiff did).

I would think that he will take a couple of months off and when the season starts a few bad results and a championship chairman will panioc and contact him. He will be back in a job before half term for his children in October.

I was very saddened to hear the news about Chris yesterday, he will always be revered as an Albion legend for what he has achieved, but sadly the results and performances don’t lie and it felt inevitable - nobody in the football world would have survived that run of form (3 wins in 23 games) and the performances that went with it. Let’s be honest, we crawled over the line because of Cardiff’s inability to get the results they needed against Fulham & Palace.

But Chris isn’t likely to be out of work for very long and I think there is a ready made job there waiting for him at West Brom (regardless of whether they go up through the play-offs or not). Failing that, I think the Celtic job would be another potential destination for him.

Good luck wherever you end up next Chris and thank you for everything you’ve done for our club. A true gentlemen of the footballing world. UTA !

What’s the UTA at the end for ???

He will probably have his pick of Celtic, WBA and Middlesbrough (after they sack Pulis) in the next few days - if he wants it.

He’ll get a Premier League job if he waits until a couple of months into the season. You cannot deny he gets results and that’ll be what a struggling team will be looking for

Exactly.

If I had another 2 years worth of wages being deposited in my bank account for doing the square root of fook all, then thats exactly what I'd do. 2 years of Netflix box sets, long lay-ins, midweek afternoon pub sessions, Frankie & Bennys, Ladbrokes, cricket one-dayers, porn, golf, tattoo parlours, all day benders, tenpin bowling, babestation, crack cocaine, The Chase, metal detecting...

A couple of years of heaven basically. Might be in a bit of a state by the end of it, but man what a ride.

Cheers Easy, that made me smile

He will have a nice break and time with his family which he clearly loves.
I would imagine that he will be back managing around October time in the Championship after a chairman has pulled the trigger on an under performing manager.
He won't be short of offers and I wish him all the best wishes in the world.

That's amazing, and total nonsense. Sunderland's results were not impacted by Norwich in the slightest. Norwich had stopped scoring goals, sound familiar? They finished with the top 4, no? Hughton was sacked because they believed they had a better chance of getting a result away at Fulham before ending with their nightmare run in. They didn't believe Hughton's Nowich would be capable of scoring and beating Fulham. Or, fluke a miracle win against someone from the top 4.

Hughton got Norwich relegated, they just didn't give him the chance to complete the job. I'm not having a go at him for it, but I think the full story should be shared.

In the five games before Hughton was sacked Norwich scored 6 goals - in the five games after he was sacked they scored 1 goal. They were five points above the relegation zone when he was sacked - the Norwich board panicked and ended up getting relegated as a result.

Those silly sods. Why would they do such a thing when Hughts was leading them to assured survival?

Not after Christmas though. His glass ceiling is the Championship. I pitty the fans of his next club if it is above that level.
