Can you imagine what NSC would have been like last night given the same weather conditions and a 4-1 win to Millwall? Don't bear thinking about.

I often think.........with hindsight of course.........that instead of spending..?..£3 million on public Inquiries, we,d have been much better off, donating £300,000 to the Seagulls Party..(to help ensure we got our councillors elected), and spent a quarter as much time as the Public inquiries took, on fighting to have a roof at Withdean.

We,d have saved money, time...............and probably have had a much larger fan-base to take to Falmer.

I've got a much larger fan-base since we've left the Goldstone!

almost no reason??? - how many small kids and mums are put off going by the dreadful conditions at Withdean? how many pensioners don't go because of the cold/wet weather? how many away fans won't come back? how many ticket sales do we lose when it's raining on a Saturday morning.

let's face it, we have a pampered society and many stay at home/in pub watching Sky Sports on a wet day.

This is 2008, not 1928!

So you think it would be worth spending a million (probably somewhere around the amount) getting planning permission, building said roofs which would involve shutting parts of the ground for maybe two years use? and then leaving it all behind? Its pretty much like setting fire to money.

Totally and utterly pointless, id rather spend the million on a couple of half decent players.

Agreed.

Why spend money on a ground thats not ours, and one that we will be moving out of in a couple of years??

Withdean has, and always will be a shithole, but it is what you make of it. Withdan has been seen as a fortress in recent years by many clubs. They are all well aware what we have had to put up with.
I for one will miss the withdean in a weird yet wonderful way when we leave in a couple of years. There ARE good memories to be had there, lets not forget it.

Because of course the council would give the planning permission for that

Indeed. And even if they did, they'd specify all roofing should be made to look like that favoured on traditional African huts; brown seating installed & wood chippings to be used on floors - just to blend in with the beautiful natural surroundings.

What I do find strangely amusing is that before the game the Millwall fans were giving it 'We are Millwall' , No-one likes us', 'Town full of faggots' etc etc because they are really hard and really loyal to their team. Yet how many were there left at the end?

I still feel sorry for the genuine fan that has to sit on the coach or in the car soaked to the skin for the journey home.

Don't know what the Millwall fans are complaining about. The South Stand I am sure was even wetter then the away end. Plus they only have to suffer Withdean once a season. I have a season ticket and have to suffer evey home game.

The fans on the england fans messgae board is a Northampton fan whinging about the prices. He can go and f*** himself.
