I remember being in a bad way up at Fulham in the early 80's.

Reading away last game of the season when they were celebrating promotion & last game at Elm Park. We were very very drunk.

We f***ing OWNED the place that day.

3 or them that spring to mind.

1. Millwall - the year after the play-offs. I remember walking through the Millwall's tunnel singing "we hate Millwall". You only do that when your drunk!!

2. Sheff Weds Away when we lost 2-1 to a last minute goal.

3. Sunderland Away - it was such a long journey that you couldn't NOT be drunk by the time you arrived. I must say though that I was nowhere near as drunk as B.M.F that day!!!!

Away to Grimsby - relegation day.

Tried to keep up with the Odds & Sods.

Drank excessive amounts of brandy, Champagne, beer, wine, whisky, all on the coach after a particularly heavy fish supper. I eventually threw up into a carrier bag, put that bag in a bin-liner and handed it to the missus when she came to pick me up in Hove.

Haywards Heath
Carlisle 06/07. Me and a mate polished off a bottle of vodka on the way back to Edinburgh airport.
I have no recollection of being told I wasn't allowed on the plane, although I have vague memories of arguing with a copper at the airport, thinking I was at gatwick and having a row with the cabbie when he quoted me £200 to go to Haywards Heath and falling down the stairs in a multi storey carpark.
I woke up face down on the floor in the morning, luckily no one had robbed me. Easyjet didn't charge to change the flight to one the next day which was good of them, but I did manage to fill two sick bags up when the plane was landing.

I know I'm very much in the minority, but I don't see the point in drinking/getting drunk at matches?

Don't even know where to start with this thread. :fetchesstrongbowfromfridge:

In no particular order

Hull away where some steward-induced early leaving allowed an extra hour in the pub afterwards

Hartlepool away last season - gallons of cider, bottle of port and then we arrived and went to the pub...and played with the skeletons

Sunderland away and having to arrange to take on extra supplies on the way back as the buffet was empty by the time we pulled out of Newcastle station

Tranmere away, saturday before Christmas - worryingly likely to be repeated this season

Carlisle when we stayed in Lancaster on the Friday

Oldham when it was over 90 degrees - well, you had to rehydrate somehow

Hiney at Cheltenham

Grimsby and the naan bread / flannel incident

Trips to Burnley to make the place bearable

Oh, and every single trip to Bristol, Exeter or Plymouth

the best bit about going to away games on the train is the horrified look by other commuters and the train conductor, not just by the amount of alcohol we carry, but the type of alcohol we carry

GDC Buffet =
Champers on special occasions
Port
White Wine
Red Wine
Belgian Larger
Strongbow
Guiness
Selection of cold meats
Selection of fine cheeses (rip ROD:angel:)
Mini Popadoms
Pork Pies
Indian Snack Selection
Cooked Sausages
Crackers
Water Biscuits

Away trips - LOVE THEM

I don't drink at matches.

away days aren't just about the football. that's why i'd never drive to an away game unless there is no other option. it's about meeting a group of your pals at silly oclock in the morning at brighton station, stocking up on enough tins to inebriate the entire away following, having a sing song and a laugh on a horrible long journey to some northern shithole. finding a pub, getting a good atmosphere with the other (more often than not pissed up) away lot. watching the game, and then carrying on the festivities straight after the game. throw in a meat based product at some point and you've a beast of a day.

Of course, it's not just about the football, and I go for more-a-less the same reasons, just without drinking, I don't feel like I need to drink or get drunk in order to have a good day out.
