It seems there are still quite a few disgruntled fans out there, mostly because of the manner of DW's sacking. Sadly, I get the impression that some are going to happily gloat and finger point if things don't start well.

I am pretty enthusiastic but a little concerened about fans reaction at games if we start badly. I feel the crowd could be split and think a nasty atmosphere as when MM was sacked could become the norm at matches.

We need a really positive start more than ever imo.

I was well pissed of with DW's sacking but accept I don't know the full story so am willing to just accept the change and hope it doesn't come back to haunt the board. It will give me absolutely no pleasure if it all goes Pete Tong

I can only think of three people (on here) who will actually gloat if things don't start well. I won't name them ... ok I will: bhadeb and BigGully who have their own agendas (which they can't or won't disclose) and Ernest who can of course be safely ignored. I think most other people will post 'more in sorrow than in anger' although of course we do have a ready-made stick with which to beat the club - one that they gave us.

With regard to the crowd it doesn't matter who the manager is - if results don't go our way people will start moaning. They always have.

EDIT: Actually thinking about it you might have a point with the crowd. When Wilkins was manager there was a general view that he was a) new to the game, b) the successful Youth coach and c) a cheap replacement for McGhee. This meant that MOST people (but by no means all) were prepared to cut him a little slack when things went wrong. Adams won't have that safety net so perhaps we could be in for a repeat of the McGhee atmosphere.

Wait ten games. Micky has had some stinkers of starts before and turned it round. Tis a marathon not a sprint, let's just hope the right Paula Radcliffe turns up and we don't end up stinking of shit half way round!

Positive. Its the most I have looked forward to a season since the our first season in the championship under McGhee - and that was only to do with the standard of opposition. I'm really positive about the squad this year and think we could do really well.

On the playing side, the most optimistic since the start of the 2000/1 season.

Mine is one of hope, excitement and anticpation of a promotion chareg.
I cannot wait for the season to get underway, going to the game at Crewe, seeing people I havent seen in months and get a good old sing song going to get behind the team

LOVE IT

I am really optimistic about this season. The new signings sound really good, especially McLeod as we haven't had a good, natural left winger for a long time. Looking forward to seeing Livermore (I know reports from pre season have not been great but Hull fans rate and that is enough for me). Also excited about the return of Virgs and seeing the Murray/Forster partnership develop.

I was not a huge fan of Wilkins so, while his dismissal surprised me, I am delighted that Micky is back. He was the first Brighton manager who won a trophy since I started watching him and I will definitely give him the time needed to gel the squad. Remember Kidderminster home that first Championship season when people were calling for his head after only four games.

Cannot understand anyone gloating if we lose. I am gutted if we lose whoever the manager is so anyone who is happy when we lose to prove their point cannot be much of a fan.

Generally positive as we seem to have a stronger squad with competition for most positions, my only concern is central midfield. However I think it will be a very competitive league this year and we will really have our work cut out to sustain a promotion challenge.

I'm looking forward to it - its supposed to be FUN. We are all having a tough time of things generally - peoiple on here have been laid off, families to support and feed and losing cash in their properties.

Escapism, emotional, infuriating, ecstatic, woeful, sublime - everything that football should be.

From Mullery to Adams managers come and go. Players come and go - fu ck me grounds come and go. But This is Albion - this is Sussex - and bollocks to everyone cos I am going have fun.

I'm the most positive i've been since the day we signed Zamora. I put a ton on us to win the league that day.

I think we may struggle early on as the team gels, but we will be up there.

Thought it was disgusting how Wilkins was treated at the time, but I doubt the board would have give Wilkins the budget Adams has. Wilkins had a good record in terms of his signings, but I think we are now a much stronger squad.

im always positive when it's comes to the albion and anything in life.
What we've been through together over the years Archer Bellotti Stanley we never thought we would ever get through that and we did.
If you stay strong and belief we can do this like i do we will get through it.
I know a lot of people were unhappy with wilkins getting sacked but he's history now
so lets look to the future

Happy that I will be working practically every Saturday and won't have to go through the chores of the Withdean experience...

BUT... Hopeful of snatching a play off place with the squad we have but worried in case we get injuries and have to use the likes of Loft, Gatting & Robinson who clearly aren't up to (or for) it in some cases.

Generally positive.

For me, Wilkins nutured a team which Adams can, I think, take further.

Not expecting a result against Crewe, but then I never do.

What I WON'T do, however, is slam the board, nor Micky Adams if we don't make the play-offs, especially if we top our 69 points from last season.

Wise words, especially the final paragraph. This seasons league 1 is much harder than last years I think.

I don't think it will be as hard as some have made it out to be though!!

Leeds yes but i think Leicester are on a slide now. MK Dons have lost Ince and might not be as strong. There is a lot of unrest at London Road so Peterborough might not be the threat they were meant to be.

Carlisle and Southend should be up in the mix but i will still put us in the top 6
