What is your favourite song from a genre you don't normally give the time of day to?

I make no apologies if you are fed up with this type of thread.

Mine, both from the "female vocalist modern R'n'B dancey type artist" genres are:-

Unpretty - TLC.
If I were a boy - Beyonce.

Common to both is the fact that whoever wrote the lyrics has risen above the "umbrella, ella, ella..." level to write something with a bit more point to it. Also the tunes are not of the "thud, thud, how many BPM can we get and from what other song can we unashamedly sample/steal the melody" variety.

Funny you mention TLC as I love the song 'No scrubs' despite the fact I pretty much hate that Genre of RnB.

Good call, I liked TLC generally though, No Scrubs and Waterfalls were also very good tracks.

For me, it's this, shit band doing a cover of a shit song by an even shitter band, and yet I love it.

Don't know why...

I'm a big, big fan of JC but that song leaves me unmoved. It's all a bit contrived.
