Potts it is... Tho Barnsey coming on @Exeter 1-0 down, made 1 & scored 1, how vital will those 3points prove 2B

The Hawk's diagonal run from the bench to the tunnel

 100% agree. Amazing cameo, you couldn't make it up.

It started from the moment he just ran on to the pitch, no waiting for instruction, oh no. Straight on! And then sent straight off, perfection.

I was there, only 15 years old and on the East Terrace. The orginal 'Ginger Prince' was such a lightweight, and we were dead and buried, but somehow he turned this on its head, and it produced probably the biggest surges I have ever witnessed, in both the North and the East stands.

Marvellous scenes Jeff.

This.

Remember seeing Fairclough on the telly do it time and time again for Liverpool... and then there was Terry Gibson for Spurs and Ritchie did it for ManUtd too.

The Uruguayan forward with the long hair (name escapes me) who came on against Ghana in the World Cup quarter-final.

He played like a poor man's Peter Crouch, only to show his true flair by chipping the winning penalty à la Panenka.

Jamie Moralee, off the bench at Scunthorpe in '97 with Albion losing in the second half, didn't kick the ball, thumped one of their players, sent off within two minutes.

Not the best, but the most memorable.

Only saw highlights on t.v.but a Bournemouth game where a guy came on to score a hat-trick in the last few minutes of the game.
Unfortunately, his mum and dad who came to watch him had given up hope of him coming on and left their seats without seeing their lads heroics!:facepalm:

P.S.Eric Potts still the best tho'!

I remember Peter Ward being on the bench quite a lot during the 77/78 and 78/79 seasons despite obviously being our most outstanding striker (see also 'Glenn Murray'), but can't recall him ever coming on to score a vital goal (tho surely he must have done?).

Has to be Potts for us, but in the late 70s, Liverpool also had a ginger nut super-sub called David Fairclough. Always came on to score memorable winners, the most famous of which was against St Etienne at Anfield in the European Cup quarter-final in what was surely one of the best European matches ever...
