What has been the greatest moment of your life?

Why not? Getting a well paid job can be reflection of how good you are at what you do; it's a personal achievement.

Mine would be when I got the a-levels I needed to get into my first choice in uni (after a summer of thinking I'd arsed up). I've done marathons and stuff, but having to re-sit my upper 6th would have been a life changer at the time.

No I completely understand personal achievement. Mine is based around that too, getting a place in the world's best commercial airline pilot training schools. But the guy didn't say that he'd busted his arse for years in an attempt to get his dream job, just that his greatest achievement was earning a very good salary. It felt like a moment of bragging, and I didn't particularly like it.

Tough question. Meeting the Chuckle Brothers as a kid is right up there  In all seriousness though standing on the summit of Table Mountain and drinking in the view of the Cape was incredible. For sheer moments of pride any time I get to see my brother (who has Down's) performing on stage.

Family related stuff - birth of kids and getting married (or divorced) doesn't count.

Well that only leaves watching England beat Oz in Sydney with the Barmy Army (though lost series 4-1), eating at The Fat Duck, being part of a 115 stand for the opening wicket for my cricket club, The Donny games, that Wilkins free kick against Ipswich in 91, correctly asking for and understanding directions in Japanese, the whole of my first Tribal Gathering and catching an absolutely massive f*** off tuna off the coast of Fiji.

Yes I'm indecisive. No I don't know what 'moment' means.

Painting a childrens ward and delivering some much needed medicines/medical essentials/syringes to a very remote and basic hospital in Malawi. The least selfish greatest moment. Others are up there, but entirely selfish.

- Winning the National Under 25's Bowls competition with the County in 2006 - we had a talented squad back then and it hasn't been achieved since.

- Being recognised by my clients for the work i have done for them.

2 moments:

When I was 11 I played in a match with Bobby Moore.

When I was 18 I escaped death literally by inches in a sailing "accident".

I am now 40 and often think back to these two events.

Can you tell us the entirely selfish ones?

Probably the moment half a dozen Tornado jets flew over the parade ground for the fly past during my passing out parade when I joined the RAF, with my mum and (ex-RAF) father watching.

A boring one would be regaining some/most of my hearing after 10 long and difficult years.

Which lead me on to qualifying (partially as I need to complete an NQT) as a primary school teacher, despite my first professional tutor and mentor (bitches) saying I would never pass and be a terrible teacher. Well, I passed. I guess I might still be a terrible teacher.

The moment when after a couple of months of intensive work with an 8 year old boy with downs syndrome, his parents came to me with the realization that he could at last communicate in sentences. The kick I got was immense, and I felt quite humbled at the gratitude they gave me for something that for most of us is mundane and rudimentary.

I feel that and I wasn't there.

Daughter opening her eyes in hospital after contracting meningitis aged 9 months (and going on to make a full recovery). Will never be able to thank the NHS and the Royal Alex enough.

That got me

Not boring at all. I was watching it on TV, back home thousands of miles away, awestruck with what you and your comrades had achieved and the sacrifices you had made.

It still has a big impact on me today and the choices I have made in my life, and I always make a point of Remembering and ensuring my children do too.

Only two words, Dave. Thank you.
