Second hand leather boots that covered the ankle and had leather studs secured by 4 nails bought from a second hand shop in North Laine (Gardner Street?).

I don’t recall Hummell’s white Alan Ball boots having swivel studs. Wasn’t it Alan Hinton who endorsed the swivel studs?

Anyway, it was Stylo Matchmakers for me, followed by some very soft and comfortable Stuburt boots with a spongy tongue.

I loved these but they so soft if you got stamped on. A bit like todays boots.

I can't remember what my earliest would have been - but my first SPECIAL ones, that I'd coveted for ages and got as a Christmas present, were adidas World Cups - the KING of boots.

My LAST pair, were (are) a STUNNING pair of green adidas Copa Mundial Samba, in green. Ridiculously comfortable, with ridiculous feel for the ball (completely unnecessarily so, given I've only ever worn them once, playing in goal...)

I started off with a pair of Mitre boots when I played for Bevendean Badgers. Eventually progressed to Puma Kings, even got a pair signed by Dean Wilkins, since moved onto Nike Tiempos.

Adidas Trevor Francis, circ 1980. I remember vividly receiving them from my auntie Rose at her fish shop in North Road and taking them home, putting them on and running to Greenleas Park in Hangleton to have a kick around on my own in the semi darkness as I loved them so much.

I always had hand me downs and the name sondico rings a bell.

Until secondary school when I weighed in with a pair of adidas litbaskis. Team up with the phoenix brewery 83 cup finalists shirt I thought I was Frank Worrhington.

Puma kings, when the foldover tongue became a thing. Late 90s? I think my first ever pair were black nike tempos, around '94/'95, white swoosh with a purple outline.
