I know they'd be slightly richer, well defiantly Celtic & Rangers...

But at this present moment, what divisons would you say the SPL teams WOULD be in.

I would say something along these line : -

Premiership - Celtic & Rangers. Celtic pushing to get into Europe, with Rangers being a SAFE mid table team.

Championship- Hearts, Hibernian, Dundee United, Aberdeen & Motherwell. These 5 teams are all on about par, maybe Hearts & Hibs could have what it takes to push for the play offs, but i think all 5 teams would stay up in the championship.

League 1 - Kilmarnock. Mid Table team.

League 2- Hamilton, Inverness CT & St Mirren. Inverness would probably be safe in league 2, but i really do think St Mirren & Hamilton would struggle to stay up.

You?

The Big question Daz, is who is the bigger club? Tottenham or Celtic?

it would take rangers and celtic about 3 -4 years to be champions league finalists and premier league title challengers, with the current set up and money in the premiership. anyone who believes otherwise is mad.

edit just read your post through and i got the wrong end of the stick, but if they were invited for next season my prediction stands.
That makes me mad then as we have far bigger clubs like newcastle etc who with the money should be doing great but certainly are not.

celtic and rangers mid table, plus what quality players would want to live in scotland?
the rest of the spl are league 1 standards bar maybe hibs hearts and aberdeen:drink:

you are wilfully missing the point of what i am saying and the impact that an invitation to the 'english league' would mean.

f*** the newcastles sunderlands birminghams charltons and west broms of this world, saying there are big clubs outside the premier league means f*** all to the argument. if you want to cite english clubs with big latent support then the albion can pull in 36k a week using your logic going on historical crowds.

i mean turning 100 and almost 30 years of british football on its head would be better for some than others, and if you think that the edinburgh clubs would not benefit massively then you are bonkers, no matter if thery were not auld firm status they would soon be sunderland at least, no debate, with a little bit of foresight. surely you can see that otherwise i give up. you think that every away fan would not lap up two trips away to edinburgh a year at say with gound improvements 4k plus away ticket sales EVERY WEEK?

Can not argue with that summary.

Celtic are so much bigger a club, particularly on a global scale, than Newcastle its unbelievable.

Wouldn't disagree with that one bit, they are one of the clubs that you could be in a bar in some far flung corner of the World and see someone wearing one of their shirts...in that respect they sit alongside the likes of Man Utd, Barcelona and Real Madrid...there aren't many others that fall into that category.

However, when it comes to football, they are some way behind the top of the Premiership, I would rate the likes of Celtic and Rangers (at present time) as being mid-table at best...though with the crowds they both get each week there is little doubt that they would have potential to rise higher. As for the rest, the majority of them would do OK in the Championship on a good day, or division one on an average day. Outside the Premier League the average team would probably struggle in division two, many would find it hard going in the BSP...or lower!

Bigger then Villa in support? I would say they are about 3 or more times bigger the Villa.

I would say that they WAY WAY MORE than 3 times the size of Villa - fan base wise.

Go to pretty much ANY major City in the World, and they have a Celtic Supporters Club. Same goes for Rangers, perhaps to a slightly lesser degree.

Remember they had about 100,000+ over in Spain for the UEFA Cup Final a few years ago.

If they were in the Prem (Celtic and Rangers) they would both be top half easily, with both being top 6 within a few years IMO.

As you were not there when me and Daz had a long argument about this, maybe you should not comment?

SeagullRic

Word of advice.

Dont even get into a short argument with Paxo Dan, let alone a long one!!

Raced him from the family section to get the last Mr Whippy '99 from the ice cream van at Withdean last season.

And won and this is what I ended looking like!! ???

I think Hearts & Hibs personally have what it takes to be in the EPL.

For those that think it will never happen, IF thre is a team GB at the 2012 there is a very good chance the individuality of the Home nation FAs (including Englands who are backing this) would have to be represented by one FA, therefore one league system for the UK.

as it stands at the moment:

Celtic - see Aston Villa
Rangers - see Birmingham City

The rest are league 1 and league 2 outfits at best. The standard up here is dreadful at the moment, we're having that mini invasion of foreigners again while our better players head for the EPL/Championship.

Potential wise, Rangers, celtic, Hearts and Hibs could survive in the EPL but not fora while!

Nonsense, it would have no effect. The trend is for more FAs, in fact Europe's numbers have increased dramatically following the break-up of the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia, not to mention Liechenstein, San Marino and Andorra etc.
