I know they'd be slightly richer, well defiantly Celtic & Rangers...

But at this present moment, what divisons would you say the SPL teams WOULD be in.

I would say something along these line : -

Premiership - Celtic & Rangers. Celtic pushing to get into Europe, with Rangers being a SAFE mid table team.

Championship- Hearts, Hibernian, Dundee United, Aberdeen & Motherwell. These 5 teams are all on about par, maybe Hearts & Hibs could have what it takes to push for the play offs, but i think all 5 teams would stay up in the championship.

League 1 - Kilmarnock. Mid Table team.

League 2- Hamilton, Inverness CT & St Mirren. Inverness would probably be safe in league 2, but i really do think St Mirren & Hamilton would struggle to stay up.

You?

it would take rangers and celtic about 3 -4 years to be champions league finalists and premier league title challengers, with the current set up and money in the premiership. anyone who believes otherwise is mad.

edit just read your post through and i got the wrong end of the stick, but if they were invited for next season my prediction stands.

I reckon Rangers and Celtic would be lower division prem and struggle to stay up, Hearts would be middle table Championsip side and the rest would pretty much float about league 1 or lower. They are pretty crap generally

Are we talking current teams or potential as clubs? At the moment I'd say Celtic top half, Rangers safe from relegation. However, if as clubs they actually integrated into the English League, I don't see how anyone could say Celtic aren't a club of the size to be top 4.

Pretty much agree, but I reckon Inverness would be in League 1. Hamilton and St.Mirren would do well in League 2 I think.

As a team at the moment, no. As a club with fanbase and worldwide infrastructure, then potentially with the extra money and ability to attract top players that comes with being in the English Prem, then yes.

On size of club:

Premiership - Rangers & Celtic

Championship - Hibernian, Hearts & Aberdeen.

League 1 - Motherwell, Dundee U (Possibly Championship), Kilmarnock, St Mirren, Falkirk, Inverness

League 2 - Hamilton

Agree. Celtic are a bigger club than someone like Villa in my opinion.

Bigger then Villa in support? I would say they are about 3 or more times bigger the Villa.

i think the edinburgh sides would shoot up the charts with premier money and sell outs every week. i dont buy all this they would be just championship business just based on their current attendances. you got to think about this. they would be guaranteed sell out aways every other week, and would just have to upgrade their grounds. it may take longer than scotlands shame but they would still be up there after a few years.

Possibly but there are a lot of big City sides in the championship as well.

Could easily get into the Prem but dont think they would be a permanent fixture.

Sames goes for teams like Dundee U and Kilmarnock could get in the Championship but dont think they could sustain it for a long period of time.

true and this makes a mockery of the supposed 'closed shop' of the premiership where london and birmingham sides flirt with it unsuccessfully. the difference being is that there would be a novelty factor, and also that it would suck (even more) support out of the scottish lower leagues, like it does in south east england.

second biggest fan base in the world... i think so mate.

Not really sure of the question really but with Celtics CURRENT side, they would struggle along in the bottom half of the Premiership. Many people are saying they would BECOME a top Premiership side which is also true.

At the moment they have the resources but can only attract the likes of Samaras due to the lack of appeal of the SPL.

I realise that cup competitions are something different, but remember in Europe Celtic do regularly achieve results year on year that a lot of mid-table Premiership sides couldn't.

Spot on. Anyone who thinks celtic or rangers would be any higher is dilluded, you only have to look at the class at the top of the championship.

What is it with this f***ing debate? There's no way in hell that Celtic or Rangers would ever leave the SPL. They're in a league where there's two teams that can realistically win the league, with an easy route into the Champions League.

I agree it ain't gonna happen, but think you're missing the point if you think they wouldn't want to move.

Moving into the premiership would mean massive gates and TV audiences most weeks, as opposed to 4 times a season, plus the opportunity to actually COMPETE in Europe, as opposed to coming 2nd in the group stage, then going out and calling it a successful year.
