You have proved my point exactly. You can pull over for 10 minutes, have a cup of tea or a breather and then start again. Poyet was in full public view, with a few hundred Burnley fans behind him, and nowhere to go for a breather. He decided that the changing room was the best place to be for his 'breather'
Do fans really want him hung drawn and quartered, or maybe just cut him some slack whilst he's on this learning curve?

No-i agree - i think he will do really well,we will agree to disagree,i guess i feel dissapointed,i think the word/s you used (learning curve) are appropriate,i have splinters in my backside on this but will always fall down on the side of the fence(after a hovering period you understand) to the - he should not have done it and stayed calm and remained where he was to learn-

PS i have never had an accident in 6 years of (professional)driving,no points ever!! yet i speed and bend rules etc,we all do..

The supporters that were there stood up to clap him as he went past. I didn't hear any dissenters as we all realised why he did it.

Quite right. I was there and think that, under the circumstances, Gus did the right thing.

Sorry, its not excusable. I love Gus, but he really needs to cut that shit out, its unprofessional and unacceptable.

Oh, we agree on something!! Forget what I said about his team selections, but this is unforgiveable IMO.

Would the same people on here who are backing Poyet over this, think the same if say Vicente had been kicked around all game, and just walked off with 8 minutes to play! No player and certainly no manager should ever walk away from the pitch before the end of the game because they are frustrated.

Do we not think that every ground we now go to, the home supporters will take it as their duty to try and wind up Poyet and take it as a challenge to get him to storm off.

Sorry, but what Poyet did, sums up everything negative about him. Not saying it sums him up totally, far from it, just his negatvie side, and bollocks to all the "its cause he's South American" crap.

You do simply not walk off and leave your team like that. Not as a player, not as a manager.

And everyone of those who clapped him yesterday, take the f***ing blinkers off, because either a) you didn't understand what was happening, or b) hang your head in shame

I'll clap him again and again if it pisses you off. In fact nothing would please me more. :lolol:

I understood what was happening. Gus should not have gone. But I will back our man 100% in the face of the Burnley idiots. It was a privilege to show my backing for the best manager I have seen at the Albion.

So you think he shouldn't have done it, but you'll clap him anyway? Okay, fair enough.

Just hope word doesn't get around, that if you abuse Poyet, he'll storm off. Because if say Reading's manager did that, I'd take it as a personal challenge on Tuesday to get on his back from the first minute, and try and get him to repeat it. Gus has possibily just made a rod for his own back, that'll take years to shift.

Gus Poyet is a great manager.I think in my view the best since mullers in the late 70s.But what he did yesterday at Burnley was not great and shows his weakness.

He didn't leave because of the fans but because of the ineptitude of the officials, which the Burnley fans also agree were useless.

The atmosphere yesterday was tribal. He may not have been the wisest doing that - but he was OUR not the wisest. The Burnley fans were attacking Poyet. We stood up for him. And I would do it again. It is what I call being a supporter.

You have an axe to grind and you are trying to give the incident an importance to support your view. I personally think that view is bollocks.

Too be honest though Thunder, if you can't put up with crap officials you shouldn't be in football. Walking off with the huff isn't going to change a thing. I'd rather he challenge them, get fined, and if he believes that strongly start a massive campaign and threaten Euro courts human rights a t work action or whatever. Just walking off doesn't cut it for me I'm afriad. And that's got nothing to do with my opinion over his team selections or anything else.

I expect it to be a one-off. It was not that important.

I don't have many strong opinions on this matter as I think Gus is a fantastic manager and I quite like the bloke.

But... people saying things along the lines of "he walked to avoid himself a fine" is one of the most hilarious load of old shit I have EVER read on NSC, simultaneously suggesting that no football manager has ever had to sit through another team/referee 'misbehaving' but even funnier the fact that if he had decided to stay the only option would have been to kick off an receive a fine, the actions required to which would, of course, be entirely beyond Gus' control. I've heard of rose-tinted specs but...
