What do you do with your 'retired' shirts?

Yesterday I 'retired' three old shirts (Palookaville, one off Donny '10 years without a home' and the navy and yellow ITS shirt). Basically they have all been worn, used for 5-a-side, and played in so much that they are in danger of falling apart if they are worn again.

In the past I have folded up my 'retired' shirts neatly and put them in a draw. I can't bring myself to get rid of them. My lovely lady has suggested that I do something 'nice' with these old shirts.

So, what do you do with old replica shirts when you 'retire' them?

All of mine are still in a wardrobe. I just can't throw them away.

If you wait long enough you can sell them. I sold a load from the early 90s - I got £60 for one of them, a white "Sandtex" with thin blue stripes round the trim of the sleeves in a "would you like fries with that?" fashion. If you think of all the "new" fans, I reckon you might get something for Withdean era shirts in a few years time. I use the thought of getting my money back (which I did on all 4 I sold) as a good excuse for getting the new ones!

hanging up as I simply refuse to get rid of them, they are a part of history and I dream of handing them down to my son one day. I also keep all my old Albion ties, some of which are now tragically out of date and could simply never be worn in public.

Fair play to you sir, I just could not do that myself!

I keep mine stored in plastic box, which due to some lucky recent additions needs upgrading

Mine just gradually slip into deeper and deeper storage.

Every now and again I dig out, and even wear, a really old one to a game, as it sparks old memories and stories. But more often than not, I struggle to get back into them.

The first replica shirt I ever bought was the Centenary shirt, so nothing older than that in my collection. There are probably about 15 shirts in total though and they're all still around, either hanging in a wardrobe or folded in a drawer - the only exception being the 2002-4 home shirt which is 'on display' as it's signed by most of the first team squad.

Can't see me ever getting rid of them... I'm far too sentimental for that.

Mine get put in a large poster frame and hang proudly in the Garage, toilet or spare room.

The only one in the hallway is the Centenary shirt.

In Manila I had a bar/ Games room so they looked good in there.

That is the Girlfriend's suggestion also. We are in the process of house hunting, and she suggested I could frame my old shirts and display them in my office/man room once we get a house.

I had a Promotion themed BBQ where I was able to distribute a dozen old shirts or training tops around.

We also got some old curtains from the shop for £5 which were nailed to the fence, a blue and white blow up goal for £10 from Argos and the other half spent approx £8000 of tin foil to make a large flimsy trophy! With balloons, inflatable seagull and a football cake it all looked great.

I short, I couldn't bear to throw away an old shirt.

there is something very odd and sad about fully grown men wearing replica shirts unless they are actually doing some form of sport in them.

why don't you lot just stop buying them then you wouldn't have this 'dilemma'?
