What's the French for "It does exactly what it says on the tin?"

"Cela fait exactement ce qui est ecrit sur la boite" might do it, with an acute accent on the e of ecrit, and a circumflex on the i of boite.

But it might depend on context.

From what I gather, its some kind of shortening of the word "babe" - your girlfriend would be your bae. The term seems to live on Twitter.

"Bae is looking hot today". I often tend to abuse people who use this abomination.

Ugh. I need a shower.

But surely it's boo?

"Ma boo is looking peng today"

I have a headache.

Spoilt for choice from the "born in 1974" options. Was almost tempted to go for Posh Spice (just for the tick) but you'd have to be certifiable not to pick Penelope Cruz:

Runner up probably Alyson Hannigan who still looks good.

I'd never heard of Peng btw, wasn't she married to Rupert Murdoch?

"Boo" is like so 15 years ago dude, like seriously..... :shootself

I would've gone with "il fait exactement ce qu'il dit sur l'étain", but I'm sure you'll get by on your one....)

It's something I have never found the need to say in French............

I even gave you a definition in my OP, for shame people!
Defined it as an adjective, then used it as a noun in your first example. Geez, how do you expect anyone to take 'peng' seriously? It's a bit pong really ..........................

Mercifully it seems to have largely escaped being oralised - I have NEVER heard anyone actually say it, it just seems to be used in text terms particularly on twitter. It saves 1 out of the 140 characters I suppose, not that that in any way justifies its use. I will go out of my way to harangue the simpletons who perpetuate this offensive piece of dreck. Much like Piers Morgan, it really needs strangling at birth before it grows any further.

I was compelled to go and look this up the other day when it started appearing on Facebook a lot.

According to the Urban Dictionary, it is a form of the word babe, but stands for Before Anyone Else.

I suspect the Halle Berry picture has just made this NSFW and NSFG and this is about to be moved.....!!

Peng

Sexy girl.

Adjective

  • 'There's some PENG over there'
  • 'Shes proper Peng!'

Well?

I'm 26, gotta be Hayden Panettiere, wouldn't wanna fight her current fiance for her though.

26 ?? I'd have thought you were 15 using words like 'peng' , which is wrong anyway, you can use it to describe someone but it just means good or nice , as in i had a 'peng' time, agree with you about hayden panettiere anyway.
