Last year, I spoke about the REMF on the Tommy Boyd show on Southern Counties Radio and after about a 20 minute chat, he said that after hearing about Robert and what the REMF has, and is, achieving, he would like to sponsor a hole for £50 on the inaugural REMF Charity Golf Day. This he duly did.

This year, I have written to most of those who sponsored a hole last year to see if they would do the same this year. Tom is no longer with SCR but I heard that he is in Southampton with Original 106fm. I thought it was worth a punt so wrote to him asking him if he would like to sponsor again and inviting him along for the day’s golf. I wasn’t sure if I would get any reply at all. (A bit like some of the golfers on NSC who have been invited to take part on June 13th - awaits flaming).

Totally out of the blue, he’s just called me on my mobile and told me that it would be a pleasure to sponsor a hole again, and that, although he couldn’t promise, if his schedule allows, he would love to come for the golf day.

Like I said, top man that Tommy Boyd.

His "Wonderful Hour" was a bit schmaltzy at times, and he IS a Pompey fan.
But despite all that, he's always come across as a genuinely nice chap.

human zoo is the best idea radio has ever invented - with drunk v stoned on the geoff show coming in a close second

his sunday night shows on play radio used to be superb - due to it not being an internet station and as such not governed by offcom, he was at his true best with no restrictions.

Legend. I used to be hooked to his human zoo shows. So he has certainly left SCR?

Incidently James Whale claimed to have invented the idea of the Human Zoo, as he supposingly did a similar show when he worked with some Newcastle radio station in the mid 1970's.

Yeah what's that all about!, SCR drivetime show last week - then he's reading the news on Southern FM on Sunday.

Don't know the ins and outs of why Richard Lidfield left BBC SCR (but get the feeling he was pushed) but it's a real shame. We now have some awful women who seems to do nothing but get people to phone in on "today's stories". You get all the whingers in Sussex droning on about why they don't want a housing estate built next to them or why they can't take their screaming kids into a cafe in Preston Park or Someone in my family is ill and no ones helping me.

What's worse there's no decent Albion chat as we had with Richard. He was always good at breaking Albion news to the listener. Don't think this woman knows there is a football club in Brighton.

Bring back Richard I say.

Always liked Tommy Boyd. He used to do a 9pm Sunday night show on Southern Sound (back then) with Kegshevlin back in the early 90s. It was good music and good chat !!. F**k me I am getting old

SCR are completely reorganizing their programs from Monday, due to poor listening figures.
