Abort, retry, fail
Dave the Gaffer said:But you see this is the whole argument about financing the club...I dont give a monkeys about West ham tickets or Gold memberships etc etc...i buy a ST to sit be mates, and take the hassle out of buying a ticket every week.....the club have my money from April 30th 2007......not relying on it in Aril 2008. Therefore I expect to see the best team we possibly have put out for my money...today we did not get that. What message does that send out to me today when my ST renewal dropped on my doorstep?
If wilkins wants to try players out, 1...play them in the reserves or 2 play them away!
I see what you are saying, but we also have to think of next season as well. What if we dither about deciding who to offer contracts and they begin to look elsewhere and we do not get the sort of replacements we need. It doesn't bode well on the club to keep the door shut on a player, if they fall out of favour!
I don't know what ST has got to do with it. I yet again paid over the odds, compared to the STH, yet I am not going to get angry about it. I would be disappointed if we didn't give the players that are on the fringes, as fair crack of the whip, when mission is accomplished for the season. Look at Nathan Jones - he was deemed surplus to requirements around this sort of time (Early April) and not given a chance after that. He is currently sitting above us in the league. As I said, I feel mission is accomplished and we need to look to build on this for next season. The best way to do that is to start early and sort out the playing staff we want to keep and where we need to strengthen. Reserves are good to keep people involved, but form and results should be taken with a pinch of salt. Remember McPhee and others were prolific in the reserves...
