THREE years ago, we went to Scunthorpe United and lost 2-0.

That left us 22nd in League One on 35 points, 6 points from safety with a shite goal difference.

Today we go to Forest looking to consolidate our 4th place in The Championship. Win lose or draw today people, don't forget what a difference 3 short years can make.

I LOVE Brighton & Hove Albion.

COME ON ALBION!

Team from that match:

Albion: (4-5-1) Andersen; Whing, Heath, Elphick, Borrowdale; Davies, Bangura, Virgo, El-Abd, Cox; Forster. Subs: Owusu, Fraser, Jarrett, Carole, McLeod.

There's one player there who's come a long way with us...

While this is all perfectly true, how long do we keep harking on about the past? Hereford, Goldstone, 92nd, homeless, relegation, Slade blah blah blah. If you only ever judge performance against your lowest point you will constantly be happy surely? While I don't think anybody is too fussed if we go up this season or not, I know I'm certainly not, there will come a point whether it is next year or the year after when it will be EXPECTED.

I'm not HARPING on about the past. I'm saying that we have come a long way since this time 3 years ago.

It is a reflection on progress and achievement when expectations rise. We have lost so many players and managers over recent years becuase there were no expectations beyond survival both on the pitch and financially.

this is a brave new world for the club, and while it is natural that many of us remember our past, the world that is now upon us should be greeted with open arms and hope in our hearts.

The tension and excitement that fills us week in week out now, is something that we should embrace. Regardless of what occurs in the next few games we should remember how far we have come but keep our eyes fixed firmly on the future. Fantastic stadium, quality side and a manager that has ambition means that perhaps we need to adjust our thinking.

While many slate Poyet for opnely showing ambition, I personally feel that this is something we should embrace, as for too long the cottage-industry that has been Brighton & Hove Albion has had a feeling of parochial togetherness. This brave new world is the future that will bring us an infrastructure and future that is scalable and sustainable.

Bring it on.
