Its not the food or drink on offer that puts me off going inside, its the customers. I would not eat and drink in a spoons even if they were giving it away free.

I see this offer is linked to some Tim Martin agenda. Few things worse than people with tedious and repetitive agendas.

Mid mid mid Sussex
a few pints of past-it’s-sell-buy-date ale

This is a really silly slur, clearly untrue - where on earth would Wetherspoons get so much short-date and out-of-date beer from, on a regular schedule? With the volumes of beer they sell, it's almost certain that they have some of the freshest beer available - it's constantly turning over.

and a microwaved meal?

Yeah, you're probably right on this one... :lolol:

The 'it's the customers' comment is nearer the truth. I'd pay double the price for a clean floor, clean table, clean glass and fast service.

I would go even further , if I was offered £50 to go inside a spoons and eat there , I would politely decline . It’s absolutely a no go area for me , I don’t want to spend my free time in the company of drunks & a rough looking crowd . No offence .

Love a Wetherspoons thread, it always brings the snobs out.

Too right.

I bet there are a load of pubs in the UK which have a load of drunken people inside and slow service too!

I've been in spoons a few times. Don't think I've ever seen it full of 'drunks and rough looking crowd' type people:shrug:
Well, not like the Bosun or the Hungry years or a host of other watering holes I occasionally frequented in the mid to late seventies

The one I've been past in George Street, Hove made the mid 70s Bosun and Hungry Years look like positive Palaces. I have been told that they are not all like that though ???

i enjoy how many different stereotypes can be claimed - rough, drunks, old men, no atmosphere. its as if there isnt a type and just like any other range of pubs

Obviously, I always drank at the snobby end of the Bosun and Hungry Years :lolol:

The only snobby bit about the Hungry Years was if you knew at what point of the evening the solitary bowl of dirty, luke warm water was replenished, so you could get a (relatively) clean plastic glass.
Yes, I worked there.... ;)

I am told that the clientele varies from place to place.

I have only been threated with violence in a pub three times. All in the Faversham 'spoons, and in the space of 40 minutes.

Were you there the night Stuart played, then smashed, his copy of Anarchy in the UK? That was probably the last time I went their :flounce:

I thought absolutely everyone had been threatened with violence in the Mill House ???
