The difference is not particularly the number of points we have won this season but the number those we are competing with for a playoff place have.

This year the difference in points between us and the those in the playoff places are - 11,9,6,2
Last year they were - 9,4,1,0

The teams in the three positions behind us this year are 0,0,2 points behind us - last year they were 2,2,7

So we are more points behind the playoff places this year than last and the competition for those places are closer to us in terms of points

Key thing - we were in the top 6 and going for 4th with a good GD and Palace had to go to Forest.
