Another Wilkins bashing thread?

I predicted 15th pre-season and got SLATED for it.

I don't see why anyone is surprised. The bookies had us down for around 15th-18th and they are not often wrong...

I would be happy with 14th to be honest. As someone else mentioned, we weren't predicted to get anywhere near the play-offs. Shame we have lost the players we have, which can't have helped matters but as long as we don't get relegation i'll be happy.
Although I can sense a flurry of mediocre midfielders coming our way in the summer

its not our current position in the table that is a concern - as far as that goes, i would take 14th come the end of the season. it is the form table that has to be a far greater concern

The trouble is with a general attitude of satisfaction with 14th in the 3rd division this will not inspire the stay aways to come along as whether you like it or not people want to see a winning team.

Based on our first 14 games, upto Bas 2, Forster 1 against Luton, we were on course for 80 pts, well into play-off positions.

Next 14 games on a different line on the graph, on course for 60 pts, lower mid table, ahead of last seasons finish on 53 pts, when 47 pts and a bad goal difference meant relegation.

First 14 games: Hammond/Forster 4 each, Bas/Cox 3 each , Revell 2, Martot/og 1 each, 18 goals, 23 pts, over a point and a half per game on average.

Next 14 games, since Luton, Revell/Forster 4 each , Murray 2, Cox/Hammond/Elder/Elphick/Butters 1 each, 15 goal, 15 pts, barely a point per game.

Not much difference in goals scored, but big difference in games won, points gained.

Remander of season is going to be tough - 6 games against team below us, 12 agianst teams above, based on points achieved. Not quite so bad if we get good points from games in hand.

Bit difficult if we haven't yet played the games!

I think that's why Yorkie said she would rather have points in hand (as opposed to the extra games).
