So no one is allowed to make ANY criticisms anymore? Seriously, I'm not a serial moaner and I was seriously pissed off after the Watford game so much so that I did question the players and the coaching staff's commitment and tactics. However, the last two results have been superb...again, however if I want to criticise the club for something I, as a lifelong supporter, feel have done wrong or badly then, Mr Naylor that's tough shit.

If supporters didnt question Greg Stanley, Bill Archer and David Belotti and just let what they wanted to happen, happen then we would have no club!

No, that's not what he's saying at all. I think some people are overlooking the phrase: "tiny minority of Albion supporters". We all know the ones – the type that moan at EVERY given opportunity, or find ways of turning a positive discussion into something negative, or look for a scapegoat for everything that happens at the club. Yes you can be vocal in your opposition to something but a little objectivity is required. The kind of people I believe Mr Naylor is referring to have none.

Anyway, I'm with him: I've stopped reading the comments on the Argus site, and never go on NS... Oh bugger!

In many cases he is quite correct, of course. Football fans are, as a group, about as fickle as they come and it often doesn't take much for those prone to negativity to air their views.

However, in other regards, it's hard to imagine a man who is appears to be further distanced from fan culture and sentiment. I guess if you never had to pay to get into the Amex, you'd have no idea how to gauge what has largely been a well mannered and constructive discussion about ticket pricing concerns, both at the Albion and across football generally. To just dismiss it as moaning is arrogant and short-sighted.

I very much agree with this.

I'm not fickle, I'm here through thick and thin and am a massive Gus fan. I did however voice concerns over the pricing of the Newcastle game and the resulting attendance. Bit harsh to tarnish everyone with the same brush. If you want to enter a debate and have a valid argument worth discussing that isn't the same as a blanket moan like a troll.

It is football - why can't we moan when players aren't performing well? why do we have to act like everything is okay because the club was near extinction a few years ago and now we are close to the top flight? who is Naylor anyway:wanker:, some hack journalist who travels for free to watch and report on OUR club!!!

If I want to moan I will - Barnes still sucks :shit:

I seem to remember Mr Naylor stating a while back that he never looks at NSC.

I'm not one of the moaners and never have been, but I don't like him and I probably never will. The bloke's so much up his own arse!

Absolutely and that's your right as a fan but he's not saying you can't complain, jus that he won't give it much credance which I think is fair.

The doom and gloom merchants out there are very vocal and sometimes they get more focus than because of the vociferous nature of their complaint.

A journalist who recoils at the concept of criticism? What next...

Being positive is fine. Getting on a high horse because of it, when your job description requires critical analysis, is absolutely nonsensical.

Well said that man

"One of my new years resolutions is to turn a blind eye to the tiny minority of Albion supporters ,if you can call them that .
They know who they are the silence is deafening after a good result & performance .
They only emerge from their dungeons of doom following a bad result and below par display to spout forth on the comments section of the argus website ,across chatrooms and twitter .

Gus poyet Paul barber ,certain players even sometimes Tony Bloom ,become targets .
They moan about anything and everything from tactics and transfer policy to their recent beef ,ticket prices for the FA cup Newcastle game

Here here Mr Naylor :clap2:

KEEP YOUR BEAK OUT STOKIE! ITS OUR CLUB:moo:

I don't know where he said it, but if he has said this then I have lost the little respect I had for the man.

Why is it if you doubt Gus, or say anything that isnt anything but praise, then you are labeled as a non being a supporter.

Naylor has his tongue so far up Gus' arse its scary.

Its hard enough with some posters on here, who would not have a bad word said against Gus or the Albion no matter what happened. So after a run of 5 games without a win, what is the point of trying to say anything after a win. You'd have no chance of getting a point across. All you would get is "we've won. What more do you want". Most of the apologists on here can only see the last game or two..... or of course 15 years ago.

Until the freak result at Ipswich, and a good win against Newcastles 3rd team, perfomances were poor and the results were poor throughtout most of November and December.

Maybe instead of trying to wind the fans up, Naylor should stop kissing Poyets backside and pull him up on a few points, like WHY he only beat the bottom sides at home, and if that means the better teams can play his system, does he not consider changing it? Or when Vincente was fit last season, why Gus only managed to win one game in 13, when the best player to wear the stripes started. Does this not suggest Poyet is incapable of picking a side around Vincente? Has he become to easy for other managers to play.

I would of thought a journalist, would be asking a few harder questions. But then can you really call Naylor a journalist. He's more of Gus' voicepiece at the moment.

Or maybe he's just sounding off to remind us all, that he and the Argus are still around.

I agree with the sentiment. But unlike the fans, Naylor is in the luxurious position of getting paid to watch and write about the Albion, without really giving a shit how we get on. He's not a fan, so he will never feel the same frustrations about BHA than the punters.

Easy to be dispassionate about decisions and ticket prices when you're not really affected by them.

This!

I think Naylor is broadly right.

I defend the moaners' right to moan, but in my experience they rarely give out praise to balance things out.

The people near me who always shout "sort it out, Poyay", "get yer cheque book out, Bloom", "worst player Brighton have ever had", "hope Dicker/Barnes/Hammond is injured" etc etc NEVER join the singing, NEVER celebrate a Brighton goal with the same gusto as the others around them, NEVER stay to the end to applaud a winning team from the field. Even against Newcastle it was a continuous low-level series of complaints about the very few things we did wrong.

It can get to you after a while.

Completely agree Andy it's the same with dogging, it gets a bad reputation from a lot of people, "i was walking with my granny for some fresh air when we came across a man getting a ....... ....... then having ........." etc , etc. Then our sites get flooded with people who essentially have no understanding of this hobby which is ultimately a celebration of gods great outdoors, relaxation (me time) and fresh air, i hope we can both agree on that!

As I said in my earlier post, the press conferences held at the Amex are bland. I don't think I have heard Naylor or anyone else ask a hard hitting question! The shackles seem to be firmly on the press.

That is clearly NOT what he said. he is not questioning your right to question if you are genuinely concerned or have a genuine criticism. He is complaining about those - a tiny minority, as he puts it - who just seek out the opportunities to moan and criticise. Is not the expression "trolling",

Agreed, some of the negative stuff is so ridiculous it should just be ignored. I don't think for one minute that means AN would ignore genuine concerns and criticisms.

He did also point out that over the Xmas period we only had the Watford game at home so not loads of games to pay out for leading up to the Newcastle game which ticket prices were the same as a championship game to watch a prem team

Not really a valid point as most people pay monthly direct debits which don't change just because we don't have games...

Naylor has a tough job finding a back page lead every single day so some of the criticism is unfair.

However, it does seem strange that at the same time the press is waking up en masse to the issue of ticket pricing, he has decided to be so dismissive of fans who complain about it here.
