Without a doubt, Yorkie. But I left that ground physically and mentally drained (maybe not a difficault task). MM waved at us, the team acknowleged us. I just wonder how many people hear us, and I wonder what they think of the Singing Section?

OK, so we know what the problem is - but what's the solution? It seems to me that most of those who give such amazing support AWAY from home also go to home games, but we're spread out all over the place - mainly in the South Stand, but a few in the North. The club were asked whether a section of the South Stand could be a "free seating" area, such that like-minded folk could congregate together. Apparently this is extremely difficult without upsetting people who have had season tickets in the same place and want to stay there. However, in my bit of E Block there are a good few folk on here (eg: Dick Knight's Mum, Bwian, etc) who sit in reasonable proximity......we have understanding neighbours, and should be able to get a group of 10 or 20 plus who can all sit adjacent to each other. Hopefully the same is true in other parts of E Block, plus other adjacent Blocks. If we can get enough small pockets of "singers", we've got a starting point. Each "pocket" needs to nominate it's own "cheerleader" (different one for each match? Whoever has the most Dutch courage??), and possibly an overall cheerleader for all of us. With a little bit of co-ordination, we should be able to start a few decent songs, and (crucially) keep them going until the rest of the f*ckers join in :)

Apart from the old faves, I'd particularly recommend a standard response of "Mark McGhee's Blue & White Army" whenever the odd idiot starts abusing the manager.

You know what? Sometimes I'm just so goddam tired.

Tired of battling to get Falmer. Tired of knowing that we have no money to buy players. Tired of getting thumped by teams who have their own nice new stadium. Tired of fundraising. Tired of hearing that some of the few players we have are injured. Tired of getting cold and rained on in a lego stadium.

Sometimes it's just hard to stay chirpy.

:(

Imagine what MM must feel?

Well said Lushy, The first decent comment in this thread. What pisses me off more than people moaning at Withdean is people moaning about people moaning at withdean just leave it, if someone wants to moan there is no reason why they can't. The above statement sums up the vast majority of albion fans.

On Saturday we play away at West Ham in front of a crowd of around 30,000. We have been promoted 3 times in the last 4 years and played at The Millenium Stadium in front of over 65,000 people. Supporting Brighton and Hove Albion is an unbelievable experience.

This Saturday Hereford United play away at Stockport County in the First Round of the FA Cup before resuming their battle to get back into the Football League.

Think about it

If I was living in the past I'd go back to the late 70s and early 80s.

I was just trying to say that we have to keep some sort of perspective on things.

The players are only trying their best - sometimes it doesn't work for them but that's no excuse for shouting out "*insert name of player here* - you're f***ing useless"

Let's just have a group hug and get on with what we do best

McGhee was a hero two weeks ago and now a lot of spectators (not supporters) want him out. (paraphrased from the article)

What right do you have to say that people are not supporters? Whilst I agree that it does not good during a game to really lay into the players, although at times most people have said something against a player or the tactics during a game. Saturday was weird, once we were 3-0 down it made no difference what we did we had no chance of getting into the game, but at the end of the day people pay their money and they have their say.

Well said that man. I would doubt anyone can honestly say they have never said a bad thing about a players performance.

I don't understand what the problem is at Withdean. At away games I stand up and shout and sing, as I did at Gillingham, and as I did at the Goldstone and as I will at Falmer. Why is it at Withdean I am happy to sit quietly and not really get involved? It's like watching the f***ing cricket. Part of the problem is that if you are not in the singing section (C Block) and you do stand up and sing, everyone looks at you like you are some sort of idiot. You stop bothering after a while. There must be something we can do about this though.

I suggest that somebody from NSC has a clip board and that we must go up and get permission before shouting out or starting any singing at any futures matches. Perhaps somebody could pass round a comical script and we will know when we are allowed to join in!

Perhaps the games should be played in virtual reality or a different planet as that is where most people on this board live.

The majority of Brighton fans DO NOT read NSC, do not read the mailing list. People think this board runs the club, effects how the players feel, that makes me laugh.

According to jumped up people like Yorkie ets then some of us are not proper fans? What right do you have to say that? I booed McGhee on Saturday because he got it wrong, he had options in Jarrett, Molango and Robinson but he decided not to use them. Still i am a bad bad fan.

Perhaps i should ask for a refund on the 3 year season ticket i got at the start of the season, take back my donation to the alive and kicking fund, take back all the merchanise that i have bought over the years, erase the fact that i have been to about 1,200 Albion games. I will delete refernces to going to Mellor to visit Archer, i will remove any reference to demonstrations against the old board. Its just not good enough, i have not posted more than a 1,000 messages on NSC (sadly shake my head in shame)

I THERE ANNOUNCE NSC USERS AS THE ONLY REAL TRUE BRIGHTONS FANS.

Perhaps you can stand at the turnstiles at the next home game and anyone without a NSC user name will be asked to go home as they are NOT real fans

Goodbye

The only thing I suggest is that the wider picture is looked at here. No matter how "passionate" one club's set of fans are supposed to be, the only thing that I can say can dictate a "good atmosphere" at a ground nowadays (and this is at 100% of grounds that I've been to) is:

- success
- a grudge match

That's it nowadays. Pompey fans made feck all noise before they became successful (no matter what the media says), West Ham made zero up at their place both seasons running. We've had it ourselves at the Madejski - in the season where we eventually lost out to 2nd place to Rotherham United in Div 2, we had 14,000 there on average making an absolute racket and we thought we had hope. Great football, loads of goals, and success. Then expectations rise and "success" becomes a different thing altogether. Now far from the fantastic Elm Park roar we have a theatre of silence for 90% of the time. "Success" to our club now is Premiership football. Times change. Sunderland, Leicester, Wolves etc.... the list goes on and on.

So the problem is not just at Brighton, its at most clubs in the league. The home crowd is never that good anymore. This article written in the Argus has been written in nearly every local team's rag across the country.

The whole league is now dictated by the "sit down" and "don't swear" and "don't come in smelling of alcohol", and "don't complain about bad refereeing decisions" culture that is imposed on us by the stewards/police at games, and obviously imposed on them from above. All bollocks and what I think is the real root of the problem. RFC recently received an order to tell Leeds United fans that they must sit down or face a ban, a club fine, and a reduced ticket allocation in future. Not our rules at the club, but the rules imposed on us from above.

Modern day "atmospheres" are just another problem in the game nowadays. Corporate globalised money-driven bollocks, the whole thing.

Then maybe she should not have said that people were not supporters as they dared to criticise the team. If you make comments like that, expect some comeback.

Bollocks. She has never said that.

(Although if you want to be pedantic - in my dictionary "support" means - "to speak in favour of; to give aid or courage to; to give approval to; to endure with forbearance; to give strength to...")
