From todays Argus:

''Against this background of odds-defying, the only surprise is that the Seagulls are not currently in the relegation zone. And yet the atmosphere at Withdean, even before Crewe had taken the lead in a match which the table told us was of above-average importance, was a joke.

Most of the crowd's last experience was not of the defeats at Sunderland and Derby, where the travelling throng were once again magnificent, but the uplifting triumph at home to Leeds, so why the subdued indifference?

McGhee, his staff and players are becoming sick and tired of some of the comments they hear and read, and they are not the only ones. A caller to a national radio phone-in after the Derby game claimed it was time for McGhee to go. How ridiculous is that?''

Very well said Mr Naylor. I struggle to think of a team in the league with a less knowledgable and more impatient home support. The comments of certain 'fans' are hardly likely to encourage the likes of McGhee and Leon Knight to stay. I wouldn't be suprised if several of the players don't think much of our supporters and can you really blame them??

I did think it was a very good article in the Argus today.

The team and manager need our support at the moment (and all the time for that matter)

McGhee was a hero two weeks ago and now a lot of spectators (not supporters) want him out. (paraphrased from the article)

I almost fell off my seat reading the sports pages today. Barely no match report at all, just a huge all-encompassing rant by Naylor :D

How anyone can think this guy isn't passionate about the Albion but is just a journeyman hack going through the motions, I'll never know

Naylor

whilst i agree in principle with what was stated he shouldnt tar everyone with the same brush. i was at sunderland and derby where i sang my heart out for the team- but i did also give my tuppence worth of constructive criticism towards:
1) the team selection
2) the subs bench. (that had less choice than an eastern block supermarket.)

However i cant stand people that leave early even in that situation you support a team through thick and thin and that means staying until the end.

that having been said you should also give credit to crewe who played extremely well in patches and whos football stye was yet again a joy to watch.

The bloke in the North Stand that shouted 'Get Off Piercy" during the first half should be strung up.

Ok, so he was having a stinker. He didn't need anyone to tell him. At Withdean every idiotic muppet that would be drowned out by the noise at a proper ground can be heard all over the place.

Whilst I'm not normally a fan of Andy Naylor, I myst say I agree with what he said today.

Withdean sucks the large one & there'll never be a decent atmosphere there.

Albion have always had moaners at games, remember the west stand whingers? The trouble is, it's so quiet at Withdean that if anyone shouts anything out it's going to be heard.

I have/will never slate any Albion player while the game is on as I believe the team need support. I do believe also that McGhee has deflected the blame for the defeat against Crewe by blaming the few people who made their feelings known vocally.

The team formation & selection baffled me......(now hasn't that happened somewhere before?)

Excellent article. We are doing better than I thought we would be yet some people want MM out! My fear is that if it continues they may get there wish.
We need to get 100% behind him and the team (whoever is picked) at West Ham.

Fourthteamtillidie: there is nothing wrong with constructive criticism or debating team selection after a game but some idiots were shouting abuse during the game. I sit in the North Stand and could here comments about Piercy and McGhee shouted from the South Stand.

High up on the South Downs.
The moaners are having a serious effect. They can be heard so clearly at Withdean. The comments aimed at a struggling John Piercy were appalling. We've got to discourage these idiots from abusing the players. I never rated Pethick, Derek Allan, Oatway or Cartwright but it would be disloyal to the Albion to abuse players.
Sadly this was also a big problem at the Goldstone except for the final days.

You know what? Sometimes I'm just so goddam tired.

Tired of battling to get Falmer. Tired of knowing that we have no money to buy players. Tired of getting thumped by teams who have their own nice new stadium. Tired of fundraising. Tired of hearing that some of the few players we have are injured. Tired of getting cold and rained on in a lego stadium.

Sometimes it's just hard to stay chirpy.

:(

Come on Lush we are in the final straight now. The finishing line is so close.

Don't let it get to you. It's people like us who should be shouting encouragement and keeping it going so that the moaners cannot be heard.

Well said and I'm certainly tired of Dick 'Bull' Shite and his false promises about this club
