Fantastic gesture once again from the club. Making us all proud I suspect.
Absolutely 100% this.

The response of the club to this tragedy has surely done an immense amount to silence those who have derided it as having become cold, corporate and uncaring - it is nothing of the kind and I couldn't be prouder of that.

Not just saying this while it's still very raw but watching that press conference with Barber & Hughton and how the club have conducted themselves since Saturday is genuinely my proudest moment as an Albion fan. Honestly is...

Agreed 100%. Can't express in words how impressed I have been.

Heard this on Talkshite yesterday and thought what a great gesture from the non-professional clubs but wouldn't it we great if the top clubs in the Premier League could do something similar?

Again top marks for BHA #together.

I read 'from the gate receipts' to guarantee nothing more than the club will put in £500 like everyone else. Quite possible it'll be a much larger donation but I assume from the amazed reactions that a lot of people thought it meant all of the gate money.

Not having a go at the club at all... just pointing it out so they don't get stick later!

I for one wouldn't expect the club to donate all the gate money bearing in mind for a crowd of 24k that could be in the region of £500k. BHA have been outstanding following this incident but I do find it disappointing with what may be emotional blackmail along the lines of this club x has done a generous thing so will all clubs do the same.

Are there THREE funds running now?

There's the REMF one specifically in memory of snoobs, and his friend Matt. Monies raised going to WUFC for youth development.

There's the main one for the families of all the bereaved.

The one Horley and now the Albion have got involved with is different is it from the second one? Everywhere I've read it specifically says for the families of Matt and Jacob.

Personally I've never thought that the club would contribute the entire amount, it's more that such a concerted effort is being made to help where it can.

Football gets a lot of negative press, some deserved, but the last week and a bit has shown that it really has the power to make a positive impact in the community.

I am a little perplexed at all this wanting to give money. As far as I am aware and I do hope I am correct for the families sake, that most if not all of the people named so far do not have wives and young children. If because of this tragedy families are left on the breadline, fine, everyone can help out the best they can. It just seems strange to me that only days after the tragedy money is being raised.
I do realise that the initial fund is for Worthing utd youth teams and not for the families.

I think the families need immediate funds for the funerals and getting sorted, so much especially when is this case it is unexpected. Also the fund for Worthing United and the youth development is a proper memorial for the lads and their lasting memory so I guess at the moment there are 2 separate needs, make sure the families are ok and without financial burdens and a long term plan for the memory of the lads

This. I think it just reflects too how much the community wants to reach out to the people who have found themselves caught up in this so tragically.
