For those that actually bothered to turn up the atmosphere was very good. I couldn't care less what it was like for those at home. We played well it WAS a good atmosphere and worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.

Agree, Barber/the club need to listen to their customers. They didn't tease me in to watch it, i only pray that Barber doesn't muck about with ST holders prices for next season, i really don't trust him.

Well you missed out on a good performance today. I went and had a great time, so these decisions are not as cut and dried as you'd like to imagine. A cracking day out all round but you really had to be there to appreciate it.

I do think that it was well done of 19000 of us and 2000 Geordies who paid top Pound to watch a game, it's what fans do to support their team but that's beside the point

In spite of all the moaning minnies on here, the attendance was great and the income will help Brighton secure better players (which a lot of the moaning minnies on here are particularly hung up about) so Barber got it right.

TB hired Barber, Barber is TB's man and the pricing will have been agreed by TB (repetition I know but appreciation of irony clearly isn't your strong suite) so knocking Barber is simply knocking Tony Bloom. Why should he keep dipping his hands into his pockets to fund our new ground and our new training facilities and our expensive new players?

Was turned down on tv - at the game the "there's only one Liam Bridcutt" chant was DEAFENING - got back and saw highlights, you could barely hear it. Superb atmosphere at the game today.

As Bozza says, the club believed they had priced it right for a sell out, and it wasn't. Hopefully they learn from today.

Some people need a crash course in Economics on this board. Profit maximisation is the goal, and as football has no major variable costs we can translate this to revenue maximisation. Selling more at a lower price doesn't necessarily mean we increase our revenue, saying "it was a failure by the club because it didn't sell out " is therefore just plain wrong. Selling out wasn't the goal, maximising revenue was, and they seemed to have done a pretty good job of it.

Not necessarily, that's the point I was trying to make. What if to shift them extra 6,000 seats they had to decrease all ticket prices by £10? At a lower price they'd be making £25*26,000 = £650k where as higher price, selling less, £35*21,000=£735,000. So they've increased revenue by selling less.

Some people might intuitively argue, 'but we could sell 21,000 at the higher price, and 5,000 at the lower price later on'. But if this happens the club has lost all credibility, people will realise they can get cheaper tickets later on and so just wait until the last minute to try and get tickets which is bad for everyone, especially the club. With the power of hindsight I'd suggest Barber got these prices nearly perfect.
