Andrew Whing, Player of the season in our Great Escape season with Russell Slade, went into youth coaching with Oxford when he retired. He then became a manager at Banbury Utd.

His first full season in charge, he led Banbury United to the Southern League Premier Division title after a 1-1 draw against Tamworth last Saturday.

He put in some fantastic performances in the great escape season. not blessed with great pace, but his determination saved us on numerous occasions. Really pleased to see him doing so well.

Very pleased for him. Andrew Whing was never the most gifted of players, but he more than made up for it in his heart and determination. If, as a manager, he is able to instill that same attitude into his players he will have a cracking managerial career.

I particularly remember his performance in a dismal defeat at MK Dons during the " Great Escape" season.
He was the only one to show any effort, with the rest of the team looking totally disinterested, in front of a huge away following.
The highlight of the game was a rendition of the "Left Side/Right Side " chant which went on for a large part of the second half.
