Hoskins has clearly been paid too much if he can drive a Porsche.

Last time I saw him, he was in a £70k Mercedes. Which incidentally Matt Sparrow also drives (although slightly different model.)

CMS will be around the 20k a week mark. Its embarrassing really

Based on fact or your guesswork?

The fact that the average premier league wage is £22,353 a week would mean we are paying him a lot more than a lot of Premier league players currently get so i think your guess is very wide of the mark.

Lets break this down a bit for you. If the average wage for the Championship is £4059 per week, this means (assuming each team has a squad of 25) pays out £101,475 per week. We are reportedly paying around the average for the division (based on reports of our wage bill being mid to lower mid way down the table)

To say that CMS is on £20k means that he is earning circa 20% of all wages paid by the club to the whole squad, and that the other 24 will be earning far less than the average £4059 each week.

I remember last season Gus saying we were pitched mid lower part of the league table of what we area able to pay our players which would suggest we are paying I reckon around £5-£8k on average and prob maxed out around £13-£15k for our top earners CMS/ Vicente. Don't quote me but Im sure we are paying £10k of Wayne Bridges £80k which might also be an indication of were we are at as well. Plus what do these guys get for scoring / clean sheets/ goals bonuses etc etc

Anyone remember what Paul Kitson was on per goal under Mcghee?

Who cares? As long as the club/chairman can afford it and it doesn't put the club in any danger. I couldn't give two hoots. I don't ask any fans what they earn. I afford the same respect to those who work for the club.

Good post!

All the anxiety & angst on a variety of threads speculating about how much a player may earn and what a waste of money they are is just self defeating. We'll never know how much they earn and our opinions about the players wages are worth diddly-squat to TB, the decision maker who controls the purse strings.

Not my angle at all for starting this post I was merely wondering were we sit in the big scheme of things ... This comment is also like saying what does our opinion mean about anything regarding the club as TB controls the club

How soon is now?
He said he had a Porsche in the programme recently.

Most of the cars these guys drive are leased, some through the club and some privately. There are a couple of brokers out there in Internet land that specifically deal with footballers, and arrange insurance as well(as footballers, along with musicians and others have higher premiums due to the levels of personal cover often required), and perhaps they crash more often as well(but that's pure speculation on my behalf)
