last night , on our normal walk from King Alfred to the Pier and back, there was lots of shouting and music in between the piers and it was Tony Hawk and the Quicksilver Skateboard roadshow.

there was hundreds of people in a fenced off arena bit and also loads of people on the walkway and beach watching these blokes ( they were not kids) going up and down this huge U shaped ramp.

First couple of times it was very clever, but after they had done it a couple of times, it just looked the same....although people were getting quite excited ( according to the two people on the mics) when Tony Hawk was falling off!

It was ace - I made an absolute tit of myself attempting the ramp and am covered in bruises this morning. Maximo Park were excellent as well, did bloody well to win a skate crowd over under difficult conditions for the soundman.

Yeah, almost every game I can remember has got his name to it. I actually missed most of his set because I've got an unhealthy obsession with Maximo Park and feel a bit old to still be messing around with the board, but da kidz were lovin' it, I'm disappointed you weren't there gaffer :)

Tony Hawk was in Shoreham this week apparently trying out the new skatepark by the Civic Centre. I didn't know who he was, but apparently it was big news. Then again, the tide coming in is big news in Shoreham.

For those who dont get you Tim I have aded the below to clear up any confusion!

Anthony Frank Hawk, (born May 12, 1968) better known as Tony Hawk, is an American professional skateboarder and actor. Hawk gained significant fame for completing the first 900 as well as his licensed video game titles distributed by Activision. He is generally considered the greatest skateboarder of all time.

we caught a bit of it.....did it keep breaking up?

It was a bit all over the place and tinny...at first I thought it was shit but when we moved closer to the front we realised the soundman was doing quite a good job in the circumstances. Was just a bit unusual to see them in a less polished setting, cos most of last year Maximo played clubs/massive indie festivals.

I always prefered his appearances on Just a Minute to his skateboarding antics.

I was in the states watching that live, he was either gonna make it or paralyse himself, fortunately he made it. A truly great sporting moment that actually brought a tear to my eye..

I still think his finest moment was the loop d' loop he pulled on Jackass whilst dressed as a chicken, marvellous scenes

It's endlessly f***ing hilarious that there's an author who has the same name as him if you add an s, isn't it

I've always found it amusing and unlikely that a world-famous skateboarder made appearances at the beginning of his career in early episodes of Red Dwarf!

People just don't treat a 42-year-old man skateboarding with the respect it deserves

The beginning of his TV career was singing a self composed song on Star Town or some such name where he was part of a team representing Brighton against Leeds in a 70's talent show. He wears a T shirt with a tux painted on it and goes under his real name Tony Hawksworth. I sent a copy to him as he didn't have it but I'm not sure he ever got up the courage to watch it.
