We seem to have changed the way we play

Listening to the commentry on the Hull game it sounded like we went more direct in the second half and today CMS was finally playing on the shoulder of the last defender. It was very evident, especially in the first half. Finally, we're mixing it up a bit and being a bit less predictable.

Poyet's pretty stubborm, so what do you think might have prompted this rethink? The comments of the Peterborough Chairman, the things said by the Sky Sports team last week or has Gus just had a change of heart?

it is all a learning process, gus needs to find out a players way of playing for himself, he's tried lots of different things. He is looking for the style, formation, that will suit the team for that day not just an individuals, and now with the addition of razak in the midfield i think it has spiced it up a lot more.

Ipswich played very straight high line which was exploited by us today. I agree we moved the ball quicker.

I imagine that it was the fact that just about EVERYBODY from pundits to fans (and possibly some of the players?) have said we can be predictable and very slow in the build up? All the compliments about our ball retention look a bit shit on the back of comments like that. Maybe having a midfield that looked the business, coupled with a decent defence may have helped Gus to decide to let us break at pace?.

Today was the first game I can remember that CMS has actually had a couple of through balls to run onto, low and behold he scores !!!

Given they seemed to lack pace at the back, I thought it was a bizarre tactic which completely played into our hands. I'd like to thank Jewell & his team for giving CMS his spark back, he looked like he loved it against them!!

I agree with you mate... Gus has a definite vision of how he wants us to play, he has just lacked the personnel to achieve this.... With some more investment in the close season I think that we will progress to a faster passing and attacking style while remaining solid at the back! That's where CMS will come good... Today has proved this to a degree! Just keep watching this space as they say!

Up here on the left.
Playing Razak with his ball keeping skills allows Bridcutt to play further forward. If we continue like this I can see Bridcutt scoring a few goals, he wasn't far away from getting one today.

We pinged quite a few long balls up today, and it never seems to matter how much of a head start the opposition defender has, CMS always seems to get to the ball. Speaking of long balls, Razak making 40 yard passes which landed on the intended target's toe every time...

This was brought about by the fact that today we had a midfield that could push the balls through to CMS after a season with a midfield that was unable to see the through ball. It showed today and CMS seemed to thrive on it and was always looking over his shoulder and expecting the ball to come through to him.

The most notable was Greer's to Buckley for the first goal. He did that a lot last season but it has seemed like they've all been sticking to a different game plan. Interesting to see Brezovan launching it so much. Another change.

Sparrow can see a through ball, JFC can spot a run, Bridcutt can pick a pass. Even Harley can deliver a good ball now and again. I think the game plan has changed along with the personnel but the question is, would it have changed regardless of Razak's arrival?

If that is the case why have none of them done this and provided the balls for CMS to run on to. People have been shouting for this to happen all season with many names of players who could provide those balls.

Because we haven't been playing that way. Take Greers pass to Buckley. We've had those two all season but that kind of pass has just not been attempted because (IMO) Greer's been instructed to keep it simple and short (mainly via Bridcutt).

Exactly how did he nearly score? Don't remember him having a shot, let alone a shot on target.

I think that's the key thing, since Dicker got injured, we haven't had anyone playing passes that open the game/defences up.
