I believe we are still missing a decent goal scorer if we want to progress.Forster doesn't score regularly enough for me.Gatts is simply not the answer and probably not good enough.Savage will set more up then score himself.Revell work rate is top notch but no end product.Elder i'm really not sure about or convinced he is the answer.We need someone who you can rely on who will get 20 goals a season.We should be looking at getting someone in on loan

Ipswich striker Dean Bowditch would be happy to go out on loan to continue his rehabilitation from a groin injury.
Boss Jim Magilton is prepared to allow the 21-year-old to leave Portman Road on a temporary basis.

Bowditch told the club's website: "I went up to Jim and asked if I could go on loan and I got injured while I was out there which was a bit of a downer.

"But first-team football is what I need and if Jim's happy with the strikers he has got, it will have to be elsewhere."

Not one of our strikers is capable of getting 20 goals even with good service
think hammond is capable of getting 15 though, which will help a lot

he reminds me of Barry

im starting to wonder that hammond is our biggest asset, ahead of lynch, and that i would personally value him at 3 million

I believe that in Nicky Forster we have got a potential 20 goal a season striker at this level. What we lack is a midfield good enough to give him the service he needs and we have done for some time. The only reason Bobby Zamora scored so many for us is that he made a lot of them himself.

I've always said that.Lose Hammond and we are f***ed.He can disappear for 80 mins in a match sometimes and still pop up with the winning goal.He would be my first name on the team sheet

It would be better if we created a few more chances

Exactly we keep hoofing the ball to Forster which is totally pointless, once this changes to pass movement he will score more goals otherwise we will rarely score.

Funny how a few weeks ago when Forster joined everyone was saying HE was the 20 goals a season striker we had been looking for for so long.

Instead of just getting ANOTHER striker in and hoping HE can get 20 goals,why doesnt Wilkins' make a decision on who his first choice partnership is....have some faith with them.....sort the service to them out.....and give them a fun of games!!!

You never know,maybe one of our plethora (sp?) of strikers may just get 20!

I only really thought about it last night, if we lost Hammond

And then I saw Reading on MOTD, and that they badly need a replacement for Sidwell, and thought 'Shit, Coppell always comes back to this club'

Im more worried about Hammond leaving than Lynch, we have 5 quality defenders in Hinsh, Lynch, Elphick, Rents and Whing. We only have two quality midfielders. One of them is on loan.

Prices are inflating, so why not value him high?

Carrick = 18 million
D.Bent = 16 million
K. Jones = 6 million
Dyer = 6 million

We have to protect ourselves

I totally agree - if Kieran Dyer, a player with a couple of hundred premiership games behind him and about 20 odd England caps is worth £6m Dean Hammond is easily worth £3m. Why not go for a cool £5m just to be safe? :lol::laugh::lol:

Poppycock. Give Forster the service and he will score goals. It's a simple as that.

But to be honest, money cant replace Hammo

Just look at Reading after Sidwell

They're really missing him

Yes, but Sidwell is ten times the player Dean Hammond is (and incidently, went on a free!). Sidwell should be in the England squad. I'm not convinced Hammond would be a consistent starter with a half decent Championship team.

Yes, he's important to us, but that doesn't make him worth £3m! £500k absolute tops with various clauses. We're not looking to sell him and nobody is interested, so it's an irrelevant discussion but show some realism!
