We need a PLAN B,
We need a PLAN B
We need a PLAN B
We are Brighton and Hove Albion
We need a PLAN B.
So after watching 180 Minutes now, it has become quite clear that no matter how the game is playing out, we do not for some reason have a Plan B.
If I remember last year it was exactly the same.
We must be one of the easiest scout reports in the Division, Hassle them, dont give them time to settle, play high up the pitch to squeeze the space, get one of the Centre forwards to drop in the Middle and we will have a spare player every time we go forward, cross the ball early...... Simples.
V Birmingham. Who in the ground after 65-75 minutes could see that we were not going to score even if we had played all night. Birmingham did all of the above. So as the home team we have to force the game and make the away team think about what they are doing. Its no good making 3 changes in a like for like basis, that does not change ANYTHING.
We as the home team or the home Manager has to have a plan to change the game if it is needed. Birmingham was crying out for something different. Maybe play 3 across the back for the last 20 and see if we can force them back. Push Bridge to left wing and add the left midfielder up front. ANYTHING to try and change the game. If you are losing and you do nothing you will lose, if you are losing and you put up a fight you might still lose but hey at least you can say you gave it your best shot.
We played the same way for 95 Minutes.
V Ipswich. Jewel must have spoken to Clarke (Birmingham) before the game and asked how to play against us or he again had the most simple of scout reports. We set up exactly the same again, only this time, the players looked very nervous. It was clear after 15-20 minutes that again this was not going to be out night. El-Abd, Lua Lua, Dobbie and Hammond looked awful on the Ball. That's over 1/3 of the team not able to really contribute.
Same story as above, only this time we managed to salvage something from the game.
The real worry is, 3 Players Out, CMS, Bruno and Crofts, and we looked awful for 180 Minutes. Yes those players will improve the side, however what happens if they get injured again. We don't have enough back up.
If we don't have enough back up to compensate for Injuries, play to PLAN B and surprise the opposition by playing a way they did not expect and cant cope with.
I believe this will be Poyet's Achilles Heel as a Manager, maybe he's just to stubborn to realise that his way does not ALWAYS work and sometimes you have to change things around.
But hey 3rd in the League......
